Just curious what do you flag to save in your registrations and what do you flag to freeze ?

Do you have all check boxes ticked for registrations ?

I never use Freeze after I've developed a registration. I'll use Freeze while creating a registration, but not after.

I tick only the boxes I want the registration to remember.

I save the entire set up for every song, all boxes are checked except midi song and never changed unless I want to save the midi or wav.  I don't have to guess what I originally saved because I know it was all settings.

I never use freeze.

One can do without most things, but not without the pleasure of music.

I save almost everything to my registrations: style, tempo, key, volumes, VH, etc.   This allows me to always use the same conditions when playing a given registration.

Ocassionally i use Freeze to for example change the key without changing my registration.  Example, someone else is singing and I am playing a registration, that person singing needs/wants a different key than mine . . . .Freeze allows me to temporarily change the key without affecting my registration.  After the performance, my registration remains exactly the same.

I use a combination of different ways for memorising and freezing.
e.g. if I'm setting registrations for a specific song or tune then every change I want to happen is saved in each subsequent registration I'm going to use. I usually don't save fills or endings in registrations because I use the foot pedals for that.
If I'm making a bank of general registrations, say big band combinations and solo instruments for a certain style I save the style only on the first registration and not the rest, so I can move between the different registrations without the style pattern changing. The same thing could be achieved by freezing the style of course but to do that I would have to first of all go into the freeze function and set it only to style, so it's quicker to have the style just saved in button 1.
I use the freeze button to make sure I keep the settings I want if I am creating a bank of regs and copying individual regs from other banks - especially if they are 3rd party regs.
Hope that helps.
