I am aware that the instructions on the download page say uninstall old version first. However, in the same sentence it says, "before installing the V2.4.1." Since the download installs V2.5.2, I thought that I'd try installing it without previously deleting my version V2.5.1. It installed perfectly.

I can only confirm that. I have never uninstalled an old version before.

As Yamaha tell you to uninstall old version first I always do this to make sure my packs are loaded in correctly when new version is installed.

On the Yamaha web page containing the link to the YEM update, in the "How to install" section it says:

Note] Uninstall prior version of Yamaha Expansion Manager, before installing the V2.4.1. The uninstallation does not effect on existing user data. (The existing user data won't be deleted.)

I have no intention of installing V2.4.1. I am going to install V2.5.2. Therefore, I ignore the Note and YEM installs perfectly.

Hi Alan,
  When ever you update YEM it dose not matter what version you have It always tells you to uninstall old version first. The packs are held in computer memory whilst you do this. On installing the newest version the packs will be loaded back into this one.
  All you need to do is uninstall the version you are using now and then load version 2.52.
As most people with Genos installed the update straight away so they assume there were still using 2.41 and that is why it is mentioned.
  Don't forget the big update is out tomorrow.

Thank you for that. I normally do uninstall. I was just being pig-headed - a failing of mine. My apologies.

The "big update"? Is that the YEM or the arranger software?
