Hello People,
Can anybody tell me if it is possible to connect a Yamaha Motif XS6 to a Tyros 5 with the Tyros MR0S5 speakers?
I was thinking of purchasing one but do not want to if it is not possible to connect them together. I'm afraid I'm not to clever on all this tech stuff, any help would be very much appreciated.
Sid.

I don't have a Motif, but I was able to connect my MODX synth to my Tyros 3 and play the MODX through the Tyros 3 speakers. You would need two 1/4"-jack audio cables to connect the Line Outs from the Motif into the Line Ins on the Tyros.

Also, I'm not sure about whether the Motif XS had "balanced" outputs. This may affect what type of cable you need. As far as I know, Tyros 5 doesn't have "balanced" outputs.

Hope this helps!

They removed the extra line outs on the T5. Why they did that is a mystery! I used two splitters to connect another device to my T5. It is not a perfect solution, but it worked. Note; I did not connect another keyboard/synth, so O really don't know how that would work.

Thanks for the correction, Toril - I wasn't aware of that.

Hi Sid,

Maybe this is the answer you are looking for.  I own a Motif Rack XS and have it connected to my PSR S970.

You will be needing the line IN of the Tyros to connect to the line out of the synth.

They have fixed sound level. Does that matter?

Hi Toril,

If you are referring to the AUX IN inputs on the Tyros5, then although there is no external TRIM level control on them (as there was on the Tyros4 for example), the level of signals from the AUX IN does vary with the Master Volume control.

In addition, there is a specific AUX IN channel on page 2 of the keyboard's BALANCE display which allows you to balance the sound level from them with the other keyboard parts.   From the T5 Data List, it appears that this is a system setting, which once set, should remain at that level through power off/on cycles.
