Hi all
I am interested in ED pack compression since I own a PSr S950 that,, as you know, is able to load a single pack.

I wish to modify ED pack removing styles in order to gain space and to add new sounds (keeping style files in external memory instead of the expansion memory)

I wish to know if it is possibile to open a yep file and remove some components and to save it as a new version.

thanks in advance
Alex
PS: is there someone that has done this operation?

Hi Alex, maybe this could help:
Another post about this item: http://www.psrtutorial.com/forum/index.php/topic,48286.0.html
A tutorial on YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOLUfAJBtYc

I recently own  a S770 and I also run into that 'problem' (but I knew it had a small user memory)
My best regards,
Ton

That's not going to help you because you have an S950 which does not use YEM.

Yamaha did not officially release any tooling at all to work with expansion packs for the S950. I believe there is software available somewhere online which can be used, but you might have trouble finding it unless you can get someone to give it to you (I don't have it).

@Acorrias, sorry if I 'misleaded' you as I didn't know about YEM and s950. Luckily there is so much knowledge on this forum and I'm glad @DerekA has corrected my wellmeaned, but 'wrong' advice ;-) Wish you luck about another solution...
My best regards,

It doesn't matter if you remove the styles from the Package, the size will remain almost the same,
you will save max 2-3 mb not more.

There is a program called YEP Voice Manager, you can use it to open 2 different YEP files at the same time, and add and remove voices from different Expansion Packs.

See attached picture:

If you need any help just let me know.

Regards, Jan.
