Genos - Multi Track Recording

I cannot seem to make changes to any MIDI file. I want to change the instrument of a track.
I start Midi Multi Recording. I open the MIDI file I want to edit. I click MENU and select MIXER. In Mixer, I change the instrument for a track. I exit Mixer and can see and hear the new instrument. I save the MIDI file. When I reopen it, no changes have been made.

What am I missing?

Thanks a lot Gunnar,

That helped, I did not know to select SETUP-> Execute before saving.
Why is that necessary? When I return from Mixer, the new instrument shows and plays, why cant I just save at this point. What is actually happening when I select Setup->Execute? I would like to understand what I am doing rather than blindly following instructions...

Hi Floodie,

in the FIRST measure of a MIDI file there are stored the so called "Setup Data" (e. g. Tempo, Time Signature, Channel Voices, Channel Volumes, Effect Settings and much more).

When you press "Execute", this first measure will be rewritten. At this time, the modified MIDI file exists only in the Random Accesss Memory (RAM). Therefore, the file still has to be SAVED as a (new) FILE, finally.

Important: Before pressing "Execute", first press "Song STOP" button (not Pause!) to set the MIDI file "to the beginning".

Best regards,
Chris

Hi Floodie,

the (changed) "Setup" data can only be written to the file if the file position is "at the beginning". If you only PAUSE the file, the "Execute" button is not active and NOTHING will happen.

Please refer also to page 73 in Genos Reference Manual: "2 Touch STOP to move the Song position to the top of the Song." :)

Best regards,
Chris
