No. Not even for iPads. The problem is a PDF is not a music notation file, so computers can't tell what key it's in, or what notes are there.

You would need an xml or midi file to do what you want.

The simpler option is to play it as written, and have the keyboard transpose.

Not so Fred Smith.

If the PDF is in true notation  you can convert to  it to music(digital audio format, midi, wav,AIFF or MP3) with software called  "PDFtoMusicPro"
I use it on an old computer running WinXP.

Unfortunately majority of  sheet music PDF's members put on the forum are not true notation

A few weeks ago when I was a bit bored I checked 26 of the latest uploaded to the forum and only 4 were true notation.

Quote from the web site:-

Because it only processes PDF files that have been exported from a score editor software,  PDFtoMusic Pro offers a unique reliability and outstanding results.
Therefore, scanned sheet music cannot be managed by PDFtoMusic Pro.

Thanks for the replies.

I have software called Music Publisher which will import pdf files and convert these files to music files instantly. These files can then be transposed. Unfortunately the program only operates on windows.

And even with true notation-created PDFs, I've found PDFtoMusicPro to be useless.

I lost a few of my Finale files, but had the PDFs. Even with simple lead sheet PDFs created by notation software, PDFtoMusicPro made mistakes. I found it was easier just to re-create the sheet music manually than to spend the time finding and fixing the mistakes.

The practical answer to the question is still no.

Could be helpful to both me and Daved.

Daved:- is it possible that there might be a windows emulator that might work on your android tablet ?

I am told this one works well.

Thank you all for the additional replies. Mikk, I wasn't aware of the emulator. I will check this out. This may be the way to go.
