Quick Record - Chords
The most common question I have from my students is :-

How to correct the timing of the chords in Quick Record

I'm sure many members here Record their songs in the same way and find that the timing of their left hand is not that good

I remember a discussion here some time ago but can't find it on the search,

Is there a easy way to quantise the chord track after a "Quick Record"?

No.

Your problem is the midi file records what the chord creates (the harmony, rhythm, etc.), so to fix timing problems, you'd have to change every wrong-timed note in up to 32 channels.

You're better off spending your time learning how to time the chords properly. Best way to start is slow down the tempo.

Thanks Fred for your reply
I understand what you are saying
Does the keyboard record the chord track to run the accompaniment
or does it record the midi as it is played
If there is no quantise (pre or post) then sounds like it's a half baked idea to me.

If you read my post again it says

"The most common question I have from my STUDENTS

How to correct a Quick Recording post recording

Can it be done on a Yamaha keyboard in an easy way for my younger students ?

Pino

I've looked into it more
Fred is correct
It records in real time,
There is no easy editing.

Better tell them that
"Yes,there is a function to quantize the notes of EACH TRUCK but it doesn't always work right"

Quantize

You must quantize each channel individually.
Except voice channels 1-3,drum channel 10 and pad channels.
I never used it to correct left hand bad playing to see what results may have.
If I make a mistake at left hand while recording,I just stop immediately the recording.
No second thought.Too many channels are wrong!  :).
Maybe you could just show them an example Pino so they can understand that quantization is not something that is always the easy way of doing things.

It is easier to just slow down the tempo as Fred said and not rely on the keyboard's functions.

Here we also discuss about auto quantization problems.
