Hi,

I am curious about how to clean my PSR S970 keyboard keys? Are there any special treatments or sprays to clean them?

This may help you, Rush.  :)

Follow similar steps for wiping off moisture.  All the keys then must be dried with a dry cloth.  A commercial cleaning spray can be used for digital pianos and you can easily get your digital piano keyboard clean.  If the keyboard is really dirty, you may use soap or a mild detergent mixed with little water.

For years I have been using a very lightly damped well washed cotton cloth with a little spray of lense-cleaner on it. The stuff you use to clean glasses and of course camera lenses. Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush to get dust out between the keys (and the rest of the keyboard). Use a dust cover when not in use. Can't believe how many people just leave their expensive toy uncovered.

There are covers you can buy to cover the keyboard while not in use. I will get one of these :)

I went to a local tailor and had them made. So easy!

Here's just one of several places that stock keyboard covers, Toril.  :)  The link follows:

Just do a Google Search for "Yamaha Keyboard Covers" or "keyboard covers".

I made my own cover.  I also try to remember to wash my hands before playing.

PS: It's kind of like backing up your USB thumb drive on the computer.  I almost lost all my data when I physically damaged a drive.  After that I got wise.

I certainly don't recommend this, but I wondered if anyone else remembers their mother cleaning the house piano keys with a cloth moistened with cows' milk?

I use a paper towel lightly dampened with household ammonia and wipe down each key. Window cleaner (Windex) on a paper towel works as well. Amazing(disgusting) the 'stuff' your fingers can leave on the keys even if you think your hands are clean :) .

I purchased a Gator cover today. Yamaha had one also, but it was double the price! The cover has an ajustable chord for perfect fit. They had them at my music store, so I got it today. Now my dear S970 is tucked in. When evening comes I will sing a lullaby :)

I use a spray cleaner for LCD screens for cleaning the keys and the screen.
And, of course, a microfiber cloth.
For the rest of the case, I use only clean water.
But since I bought a yamaha cover, the whole surface is still clean after several months.  ;)

I like 'slippy' keys ... Mr Sheen for me (like Pledge)!
However, I clean with LCD screen cleaner every few months.
