Cut time is a very simple concept - only two beats in the bar instead of 4 in common time but the time span of the bar is the same. It is usually used (although in my experience very rarely) to signal a short interlude passage with a different beat in the middle of a common time piece. But it hardly ever comes up and in fact in over 60 years of playing I dont remember ever coming  across it in popular music. So considering that you state in other posts you are a novice player, I don't know why you would need to mess with it.

Two beats to the bar and a half-note gets one beat.  We might be able to offer more help if you would attach the sheet music or lead sheet of the song you you are trying to play.

Hi Norman
I don't know why this was scored in Cut Common time, other scores show it in Common time 4/4.
I am not at my keyboard at present but I would probably play this on a Folk/Country style with 115 - 120 BPM in 4/4
if you are unsure take a listen to John Denver on youtube and get a feel for the song, the lyrics portray it being a sad song so it should not be too fast, but also not too slow (a moderate pace).
Hope this helps, I will sit at the keys later and run through a few styles.

I hope this was an answer you were looking for

I don't think that cut time is ever used to score a complete song this way, it is typically only used to show a rhythm departure in the middle of a song. So I would say this is a mistake, it should be straightforward common time.

Looking through the score it's definitely meant to be 4/4. Ignore the line through the C.

Thanks guys!
I've found a ton of songs with cut time
That wasn't necessary
