Hello friends. I made a song where I used the transpose function a lot. All went well when I played, but when I played back the MIDI file that I recorded, there was no transpose!!! Can I fix this with some settings. (Please tell that I can! ) :) Devastated!

Midi does not save the transpose - you will either have to play it in a different key, or record it transposed as a .wav file using the onboard recorder.

Thanks, Gary! That is bad news! I always make MIDI recordings of my songs, hoping that one day I can edit them. The song had several transpositions in it, that was what made this particular song interesting. So I will have to do as you suggested. Is there other things that MIDI don't record? And, LOL, you should have seen my long face when I played back the song and the transpositions were gone. Hereafter they will call me Horse Woman :)
I appreciate your help and advice :) Am back at the keyboard again, made two tunes yesterday and one today, and am practicing a little with singing. Best regards from Toril :)

Hello Paula :) I think this will be complicated because I made many transposition in the song, back and forth. I always save a MIDI file of the songs I make, to remember them, and I also think to have the possibility to edit later. But this one I will have to record with the audio recorder. I didn't know that MIDI could not record transpositions. So at least I learned one more ting today :)

#1 play and record your midi
#2 save to user
#play your midi
#4 now function button on key board tab over to menu 2 (song creator)
scroll down to channel transpose
#5 transpose each track  1-8 up or down all must be the same do not transpose drum track
#6 now on top RH 9-16 transpose each track
Execute and save !!!!done now copy your midi to your U.S.B and delete out of the user

Hi Shezza
thanks for confirming this easy and permanent fix,  it only takes a short time and you have the song transposed for ever ,I rarely  use a midi file but find it to be handy if someone calls me to play a gig ,I always ask them if they have a special request ,if I dont know the song requested or I dont have time to learn it or haven't practiced it I will look to buy a good quality midi or I will quick learn it if I can and make my own midi until I have time to make sure I wont make a mistake and really goof it up in live play this works good

I suggest buying a copy of MidiWorks YA... it's so easy, it only takes a few seconds to do the Channels Manager.  You can transpose all channels at once and MidiWorks YA takes into consideration drum tracks and Mega Voices.

Thank you Shezza and John H. I want to transpose several sections of the song to different keys back and forth. Is that also possible?

What reason do you need to do this for, would random people be singing along to it?

Toril S

No. It goes up every time a new part starts😀

 Hi Toril
this is what I would do ,I would transpose the midi in the song creator to where you want it to begin with, then as always when ever a midi is used  you always need to make sure your transpose button on the key board is set to 0 for that song or you would be transposing it again when performing it,then for each part you want to go up + your transpose button
I am no expert on this subject, maybe some else has a better answer for you :) as I explained I rarely use midis as I for the most part perform a live show ,I hope this helps,
I make a midi folder and if I should use one I practice always to 0 in the transpose so I am consistent in what I do,
every one has there way of setting up

Hello Toril,
You have three settings for transpose One for Keyboard and One for song or Master. ALWAYS make sure it is set to Keyboard when recording in midi. This will then be recorded just as you play it with your transpose in tact. For where to check these Press Function and the Utility and Tab to Keyboard Panel and tab down. If this is set on Song or Master change it to Keyboard.

Certainly it's possible. Just put each key change in its own registration.

 :)
I did at one time set my midi to the Reg,when playing out, the key board seemed to get confused between styles and Midis it seemed to require pushing the Reg,twice when working between the two ,it should not have done this but it did so I just decided to use the song creator and going to my midi folder,
some times these key boards seem to have a mind of there own
the best thing to do is how ever it works for you :) in all realty it should work with the Reg,

Hello friends. Eileen's method worked! Eileen, I am very happy now! It was set to master, when I set it to keyboard it transposes to my hearts content in the MIDI recording! Problem solved!  :)
