Is the Expansion Explorer a replacement for Yem with the same content from all expansion packs?

Expansion Explorer is limited to the SX720/SX920/genos2 packs of Yamaha. With YEM you can install all PPF packs (including packs for other keyboards and from other vendors) and some other formats as well, e.g. SF2.
SX900 and S670
Former keyboards: E433, E463, SX700

Ah thank you. So Expansion Explorer content is from all the packs available for the SX720/SX920/genos2. When I need third party packs to install, I need YEM. That is just enough for me. Easy to preview and install all the content. Thank you!

Hope that in the future you can add third party packs too.

Hi @DaPaleRider,

Please also note that Exansion Explorer is definitely not compatible with YEM (Yamaha Expansion Manager). Content installed with YEM is deleted from the instrument when installing content with Expansion Explorer, and vice versa.

So you have to choose one of the two. I still work with YEM because there are a lot more functions available regarding packs. I only use Expansion Explorer (on Windows) to audition styles and it can generate style suggestions from audio files.

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)
