Thorlaf explains very clearly that Seamless Sound Switching (SSS) on any keyboard is done by changing the parts of the two sounds so they are not on the same midi channel, thus turning off one part and turning on the other. The problem is not with the sounds (voices) but with the effects that persist. You can turn on automatic translations to see his explanations in English.

On all the recent Yamaha keyboards, the way this should be done is by assigning one voice to one part (e.g, Right 1) and the other voice to a different part (e.g., Right 2) and using  Registrations so that when using the first voice, Right 2 is off and Right 1 is on, and in the next registration, Right 2 is on and Right 1 is off.  Naturally, if you are using all three parts for each registration, this cannot be done, but I have found that the sound switching problems tend to occur only with some effects (e.g., distortion).  He also explains that instruments that do automatic SSS have the disadvantage of moving the voices to different midi channels automatically, to accomoplish we would do "by hand" with a registration on the Yamaha keyboards.  But doing so automatically can make things difficult if you are recording the song onto a midi file and later want to edit things.  An excellent video and highly recommended.

I have been using this approach for seamless sound switching for years and it is very convenient to be able to switch registrations without precise timing.

However, programming the registrations correctly is often not that easy and can be quite tricky. In these cases, an automatic system like that of the Pa5X would be quite convenient.
