SX920 Country styles sound like ...

I worked up a Ricky Skaggs song style for "Honey, Open that Door" using the only the SX920 styles. It sounds different, I can't describe what it is. It's not better than my S950, just different.

Today I started another custom song style for a Zach Top's song called, "I Never Lie". I am finding the SX920 drum kits are to harsh sounding (best way to maybe describe them.) But the BASS patterns are just over loaded with reverb/echo.

I have loaded all my old S950 styles onto my USB stick and using them for the bass pattern and maybe drummer.

I now have an SX720 and previously had an old S900 for many years. I'm not always happy with some of the new voices either.

Yes, on their own some of the new voices sound more interesting and lively/real than their older counterparts. But together with other voices I often find that these new voices somehow don't integrate well into the overall sound. I then switch to the voices in the legacy folder. But maybe it's a matter of getting used to it.

I was just setting up the Pedal Steel guitar in the OTS for the style. I tried Pedal Steel Guitar 1 and 2, which are both NEW voices. They both sounded like an electric piano rather than a Pedal Steel Guitar voice. I then clicked on the Demo of the voice. I don't know that the deal was but there is no way that recording was "played live" using the voice on my SX920 keyboard.

I did use my Pedal Steel guitar 3 voice from the Legacy section in OTS1 and then added the NEW Pedal Steel Guitar 1 voice with it in OTS2. Now that sounded fine and maybe a bit fuller in sound.

I was really looking forward to using those new Pedal Steel voices. Maybe there is a trick to tigering them to do something special.

Drake, you probably already know this, but anyway:
You can record the voice demos with MIDI Quick Recording. And then you can display the notes of the recorded demo with the score function. And with MIDI Multi Recording > Step Edit you can see all the modulations.

Around the 32 minute mark, the Pedal Steel Guitar sounds pretty good, to me anyway.

Hello Larry

That is the same sound as my S950 could put out and the player never used the toggle to bend any notes.

I thought I read there was a new technique that the new voices used to bend on note and hold the other ones.
