Well friends, I did it again! I suspected the neighbours were planning to break into my apartment, grab my saxophone and hit me hard in the head with it :) So I got myself a Yamaha YDS-150 digital saxophone, or windsynth if you like, to practice silently. It is a keyboard on a stick, how cool is that. With a brass bell, black plastic body and a real saxophone mouthpiece. It is not "the real thing" but a cool instrument in its own way. I am having fun with it, and it is always great to get another Yamaha product to fiddle with. Are the sounds good? I must say that tlhis is absolutely not a Genos :) But it can be used as a MIDI controller. I intend to hook it up with my Genos and see what I get out of it eventually.

Nice Toril

Hope to hear some performances with the digital sax. Sounds interesting ..so have you given up the real sax now??  Quick question? I'm sure you were in the USA before this forum went down.. did you move to Norway?  My mate Gunnar is also in Norway but on another forum

Hello Chris. I have never been to the USA, I live in Trondheim, Norway. No, I have not given up the real sax, but the digital one is good if I just want to practice fignering, my neighbours still have to hear me blowing on the horn, but I can give them some brake :) The saxophone lessons are going well, and I am still having a lot of fun learning. Bending notes is one thing you cannot practice on the digital horn, the reed is not moving, it is only there to make it feel more confortable for the player. And there is no bite sensor. I think Yamaha should give me a medal now, I have Yamaha piano, several Yamaha keyboards, and two Yamaha saxophones! :) And I am just a mediocre hobby player :) But I love to play!
