Hello Friends

I have Genos 1 . . . . . looking for a style type:  Slow Rock in 12/8.

Cannot find in Genos preset styles or my own collection of external styles . . . .

anyone that can share a style like that ?

p.s. it is for this French song 'Aline' (see YT link below)

Al, have you tried the soul ballad 6/8 style. I think that would  be close.
I would have said this song sounds more like 6/8 rather than 12/8, but technically in a style there is little difference anyway. It's 2/4 or 4/4 in triplets, not really very different. Either the style works for you or doesn't.

Hello,

Do you have Lacobo "StyleFinder", a Windows program that has an "image" of the Genos 1 & 2 styles and allows you to search for styles by name, tempo, signature, etc.?

Hi Al,

There may be a small misunderstanding here: The "StyleFinder" has nothing to do with the Music Finder of earlier models or the Playlist function of Genos and PSR-SX models.

"StyleFinder" is a PC (Windows) program developed by our forum member Bert (username "lacobo"). The user interface of the program is similar to the Style Selection display of the Genos. You can use it to search for styles (Genos1 and Genos2) by category, time signature or tempo.

It is best to click on the link provided above by "Patt22" again. In the linked thread you will find a linked image and the download link for the "StyleFinder" program.

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

Just as a matter of interest, I looked up the sheet music for this song, and as I thought, it is written in 6/8 not 12/8. Doesn't make a big difference to searching for a suitable style. And all these style types are 4/4 time signature in Yamaha keyboards anyway, although they do distinguish in the description. Time signature is largely an irrelevance in styles. It has an effect on bar length for fills - 2/4 and 6/8 are half the bar length of 4/4 and 12/8 - but other than that its whether you like the feel of the style for the song.

Thanks a lot for looking into this . . . . i am testing with different styles, some 6/8 and some 12/8.  You are right, it is really a matter of feeling. !!!  The lyrics are in French, which is not my native language and I am just learning the song in French.

The feeling is somewhat different when you sing in your native language and when you sing in another language.

This is a song that I heard so many years ago and could not understand all the lyrics but felt it . . . .. lately I decided to learn the basics of French language, so, this song seems suitable.

Still trying to develop that feeling for the song in French  . . . . . . which turns out to be a difficult language for me anyway.

Your comments are appreciated.
