I don't know how many Tyros 4 the Yamaha produced but I know that in 2012 she released the jubilee model of Tyros 4 in the black color version.
I have such an instrument.
Launching at Musikmesse 2012 - To mark the 10th anniversary of Tyros, Yamaha's most successful arranger keyboard ever, Yamaha have produced this stunning Special Edition model, limited to just 2,500 instruments. It's their way of saying "thank you" to the huge family of professionals and enthusiasts who have made Tyros what it is today.
Black Tyos 4 has a certificate of authenticity with the next number (all of them were produced 2500 units)

Hello Ryszard, Thanks for your comment. I do not know why Yamaha dumped Tyros 4 and everything to go with it. All the packs and bits and bobs just went. I would not part with mine.

Mine hasn't even arrived yet and it's a keeper. I would say that there are not many around simply because they are so darn good!!!  I looked for months to find one !!

The Tyros4 is still a good arranger. Like any arranger a lot of sound styles and features will get left behind before jumping ship to the next model. But if you sit down and actually learn everything inside and out you may find yourself not needing to move on. Plus there's always that chance once you have moved on that something has not been included in the next model or doesn't sound as good.

If you do have a Tyros4 and haven't watched the 5 videos that e_Pianos in the UK produced you will be boggled at how many things it can do that you didn't really think about

Way ahead of it's time and actually came out 3 months earlier in 2010 than my old S650 keyboard. I know it sounds crazy but I actually sold my SX900 after a few months because it just wasn't up to scratch even though it came out 9 years later than the Tyros 4 ..no wonder no=one wants to part with them!!

I've had mine since 2017 always wanted a Tyros but could never afford one, when I got some inheritance after my father passed away I purchased on it has a 512mb expansion board.

ChrisH

Hi NativeAngels
I was much the same ..I could only afford to look at pictures of them ! However I have got to the stage where I actually found a pristine one and it's being shipped over from our East coast this week. Sold my old S650 arranger yesterday to a family who have kids who are budding musos so hope they have fun with it so the keyboard stand is empty and ready for the Tyros.  I didn't check with the previous Tyros owner whether she had an expansion board fitted or not ..Is the 512mb board sufficient or is it worth getting a 1024mb board? I downloaded a pack from Yamaha with some extra SA2 voices but it does say I need an expansion board so wondering if I should spring for the bigger expansion board??

I would say get the 1 gb expansion for your Tyros 4 you should then have sufficient space to install the expansion packs and possibly additional uvn sounds.

Denn

Hello, When I bought my T4 I got them to install the 1Gb extended memory. I have bought a few add ons and the memory is almost full. The Wurlitzer organ voices are huge. My take on this, any UVN under 5 Mb is hardly worth installing. They are generally homemade for something specific. If you want to know how to REMOVE UVN voices from the extended memory just PM me and I will send you my instruction. It is important to remove the WAV files before removing the name of the UVN.

Thanks Denn

My T4 is still in a truck heading East to West and it was a used one so I don't know what the memory status is but more than likely it won't have an extension board.

One question just for interest ..the lessons side of this site has a chapter on Music Finder and a section with tons of Fake Books for the Tyros all in MDB format. When I had my SX900 I could put them on a OSB and get the SX900 to read them and it would automatically convert them to the Genos type of Playlist file and I could load the playlist direct from the USB and play it as if it was in the keyboard's Music Finder ... Have you used any on the Tyros 4 and are they usable???    the link is : https://www.psrtutorial.com/lessons/playing/mf/94_FBMFDs.html

You can now download the majority of the tyros 4 expansion packs not if any other will be added.

Hi Chris,

Tyros4 (and also Tyros5) does not yet have a Playlist function like Genos and PSR-SX models, but still has the earlier Music Finder. So you can load Music Finder files (.mfd) directly (selecting REPLACE or APPEND). In principle, .mfd files from other models are also compatible.

You can find all information about the Music Finder in the Tyros4 Owner's Manual, starting on page 66.

If you have problems loading certain .mfd files from other models on the Tyros4, you can try converting these .mfd files for use on the Tyros4 using one of the following (Windows) programs:
>>> MusicFinderView
>>> Music Finder File Manager

If you don't have all the Tyros4 manuals yet, you can download them here:
>>> https://uk.yamaha.com/en/support/manuals/index.html?l=en&c=keyboards&k=tyros4

The original Yamaha Music Finder file for Tyros4 is available here:
>>> https://uk.yamaha.com/en/support/updates/59207_en.html

And if the firmware of your Tyros4 is not yet up to date (V1.10), you can download this version here:
>>> https://uk.yamaha.com/en/support/updates/firm_tyros4.html

By the way, Tyros4 supports both the expansion memory boards from Yamaha, available with 512 MB and 1024 MB (1 GB), as well as the 2048 MB (2GB) board from the manufacturer MUTEC. However, in my opinion the latter only really makes sense for Tyros5. On the Tyros4, this 2 GB board cannot be fully utilized due to certain parameter restrictions.

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

Thanks again Chris

You are a fountain of knowledge .. Not sure of the firmware status as the keyboard is still in transit but I did download the firmware and will check if I need it together if any expansion modules were installed.  Yes I have the full MFD file already ..Roger actually has it available on the site for download and yes I have all the manuals ..that is the first thing I do when looking for a keyboard as it gives you a huge amount of information in advance.
