Beginner Voice Creation query

Pardon if this comes as a newbie query.
I come from Casio MZ-X500 where it was possible to create a single voice from a wav sample with loop marked in wavosaur and save it as a .ztn file and take it to keyboard via USB stick.
On my SX-900 it seems I have to use expansion manager and create a whole expansion pack. So if I need to make some changes to the voice, the whole user memory has to be rewritten using a cqi pack installation file.
Is there a way to have single tones (voices) to be taken to user memory one at a time?
Thanks.

Using YEM is the only way to edit voices, apart basic "editing" on-board.
The way you used to do things on your Casio doesn't work with SX.
You cave to adapt a new workflow. There is no turn-around or shortcut.

In any case please note that if you choose "pqi" (pack quick installation file) as installation file the process is quite fast since only the changes or/and additions on your installation pack needs to install.
In other words if you edit and made changed to only one voice, the installation process will need just a few seconds.

There is no way to copy voice (sound) from expansion to user memory and made there serious/extensive editing on-board.

Thanks. Really appreciate it as now I know the direction my work flow needs to take. Will read up about pqi install files as that looks really promising.

Welcome to the PSR Tutorial Forum, meandrake!

Please note that when you call "Save as Pack Install File" the ".pqi" (Quick Installation) file type is always selected first (or ".cqi" if a protected pack is involved).

If you definitely want to save a Full Installation pack (which is required at least for the very first pack installation) you have to manually change the file type to ".ppi" (if possible, otherwise ".cpi").

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)
