Friends,

What is the difference between Genos2 REVelation reverb and Genos Real Reverb ? What is the improvement of Genos2 sound with the new REVelation reverb ?

Thanks,
Sunny

Steinburg Revelation reverb is one of the best you can get and has to be heard to realise how good it is.

Hi Eileen,

Do you have any audio or video demos of  actual Steinberg REVelation reverb other than Genos2 demos ?

Thanks,

I have a Genos2. The Revelation Reverb keeps the
stereo positioning of all the voices and seems to me to
give a spatial separation, focus and lightness to the reverb.
I think the Genos1 Real reverb (I also had it in my previous
Tyros5) did not work the same way in stereo.  You can
look at the Steinberg site for more technical
information.

Can we get same Genos2 REVelation Reverb effect on Genos1 by adjusting REAL reverb settings ?

(Very) doubtful.

The computational algorithms are different and the controlling parameters are quite different. REVelation allows modulation and time-based control over the high and low frequencies:

https://steinberg.help/cubase_plugin_reference/v9/en/_shared/topics/plug_ref/revelation_r.html

Just comparing the REVelation parameters (in the Data List) against the REAL REVERB parameters, I wouldn't know where to start...

Sorry to sound so negative, but REVelation is a genuine improvement/upgrade over Genos 1 and other instruments with REAL REVERB.

All the best -- pj

There is more background information on the Web about Steinberg REVelation. Search on "Steinberg REVelation vs. Reverence" or something like that. REVelation has been around since Cubase 7 (?).

REVelation is sometimes called a "character reverb" where a producer wants to create an effect that goes beyond the mere impression of an acoustic space. REVerence is a whole other game being a convolution reverb. (REVelation is an "algorithmic reverb".)
