The packs available are here, I very much doubt Yamaha will make further packs for the T5 but these are free to download
https://uk.yamaha.com/en/products/contents/keyboards/vse/index.html

You load these packs to your T5 via YEM (Yamaha Expansion Manager)

You do need an expansion memory to load the packs

Thanks Del,
I will try again to get the expansion memory, seemed to be hard to get a year ago
Thanks again

Adrian,

The Mutec FMC-07 flash-expansion module (2048MB) for Tyros-5 is at this moment available at www.thomann.de.

Good luck!

Hi Adrian,

As is well known, Yamaha only offers Flash ROM expansion modules with 512 MB and 1024 MB (1 GB). However, I recommend using the 2048 MB (2 GB) from MUTEC if possible, because you can never have enough expansion memory.

However, the MUTEC 2GB module is not cheap. I recommend that you ask as many dealers as possible about used expansion memory modules for the Tyros5. (It should definitely be at least 1 GB.)

P.S.
Are you sure that your Tyros5 does not yet have an expansion memory module installed? You can only determine this directly on the T5 by unscrewing the flap on the bottom. Alternatively, you could export the Instrument Info file (.n27) on the T5 to a USB stick and then import it into the YEM on the computer. If you then click on the Install Target "Tyros5" in YEM, it will show how much expansion wave memory is installed.

Best regards,
Chris

Thanks Ton
It's $ 555.00
Makes me wonder how much I should spend on this old model

Chris,
At $ 555 for the part It  might be better to wait until I get a new keyboard
I shall take a look inside though, just in case it's already there
I bought the keyboard new, it came direct from Yahama so unless they installed it then it won't be there
So far I have not been tempted to turn it over in case of damage, it does have the hdd installed, I presume it is not this that we are talking about

Adrian,

There is another way to check the presence of an Expansion Module (or other memory), without using a screwdriver.
I found this method in the Service Manual of the Tyros-5.
It goes like this:

1. TYROS OFF
2. Hold buttons F an J (near the screen) pressed down and switch the TYROS ON.
3. When the "Device Information Screen" appears, stop pressing the buttons.
4. When this screen shows " : Expansion module" a module is present.
5. Press key B (near the screen): "The Expansion Module Information-screen" appears.
6. From here you could get some more info, using the START/STOP-button and the BREAK-button, located in the STYLE
   CONTROL-row.
7. Follow the screen for more info and the end result "OK" or "NG" (not good).

Succes!

No the keyboard will not have expansion fitted. We have all had to buy this separately.
Have you considered a second hand Genos1 as that has three Gb memory fitted. Also 58Gb user section.

Thanks for that extra information Ton,
It doesn't appear to have it

Eileen,
I have thinking about getting another keyboard, I did ok buying my old T2 second hand but thinking I could pay out thousands for a keyboard that has already been used for a few years could be risky,
I am more likely to buy a new one
It might not make sense spending much on my T5 at the present as it is quite a few years old now and $ 500 does seem too much but it was worth finding out so I thank everyone for the suggestions
We seem to be on a treadmill these days with musical instruments, the older folks seemed to have the same instrument most of their lives without them breaking down
Now we think 5 years is old

It's $555 well invested. I paid even more due to the conversion rate to BRL, though I don't remember the exact amount... But it's a product that will last you almost a lifetime, just like the keyboard.
Both are made to last a long time.
It's been almost 3 years since I got my second-hand Tyros 5 and the new 2GB expansion board. Everything is working perfectly.
The last thing I did was replace the keyboard strip that was pretty worn out... And from then on, I won't need to repair the keyboard for a good while. Not because I don't play it a lot, but because it really justifies the price invested in it.
Of course, it's a personal choice, but I'm super satisfied with mine, and I wouldn't trade it for a Genos... More of the same, in my humble opinion.
Regards,
Gabriel

Well Adrian,
You would be surprised at how many of us oldies now have Genos 2 The sound is incredible as are the styles. The touch screen makes thing much quicker to do. It also has 3Gb 0f memory for all the Yamaha packs which are now free.

On the main page I select the packs for Tyros5 as the model. But if I select the Church Organ pack, for example, then there is no download for T5, only for PSR models and they don't fit in T5. Am I making a mistake?????

Hi Peter,

I don't know why Yamaha doesn't offer a CPF version of the "Church Organ" pack for Tyros5.

However, you could try the following versions of the "Church Organ" pack. They are in non-protected PPF format and should work with the Tyros5 and Genos1/2:

>>> ChurchOrgan_ELA-1.ppf.zip (ppf size 33.0 MB)
>>> ChurchOrgan_S970.ppf.zip (ppf size 40.3 MB)

There is also a "Church Organ" PPF version (ppf size 38.6 MB) in the "Bonus Expansion Pack1 for PSR-SX920_720":
>>> https://download.yamaha.com/files/tcm:39-2311216

Please note that this download is over 1 GB in size!

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris

Thanks for your quick feedback, Peter!

By the way, I recommend using the latest Expansion Manager (YEM) version (currently V2.11.0).

Chris

Thanks Chris,
I have installed the new version of YEM.
The styles are very good, but the registrations obviously cannot be installed in Tyros 5.
