Has anybody had any experience with programming "Midi Designer Pro 2" for use with a Genos 2?

I would like to be able to select styles, variations and registrations remotely whilst playing another keyboard, which is situated some distance from the Genos, but be able to control the Genos2 as above.

The two keyboards will be connected via midi to be able to transmit "note on/off" information to the Genos2

It initially seems rather complicated.

If anyone has any advice or guidance, I should be grateful to receive it.

Thank you

Welcome to the Forum!

I wrote an interface controlling the Yamaha SHS-500 Sonogenic: https://sandsoftwaresound.net/sonogenic-voice-editor/

Yep, MIDI Designer may seem confusing at first as there is a learning curve. I recommend studying the Sonogenic voice editor or some other MIDI Designer template targeting a PSR or other XG-based instrument. Yamaha's MIDI implementation is pretty consistent across the mid- to upper- PSR/Genos range.

The main thing is to study the MIDI messages needed to control Genos. Start simple and build out. Get one function working like selecting a style. Then go on to section control (AKA variations). The Sy*** messages are documented in the Genos Data List.

Registrations are trickier. Maybe leave that one alone until you're confident with MIDI Designer.

Hope these suggestions help -- pj

@pjd

Thanks for your suggestions. I will have a look at your Sonogenic voice editor.

I also played around with MIDI Designer and linked the registrations to it. This is a video that could help you.

Does anyone have a video tutorial using TouchOSC? Midi Designer is a bit expensive so I would like to use TouchOSC.
