Hi,

Is there ANY equivalent app that can be used as YEM for us who don't use Mac or Windows?
I have an Ipad and a laptop with Linux Mint.

Does somebody else here facing same situation... is there some workaround so I can load and save things on SX900 without purchasing Windows computer?

No, YEM is proprietary software made by Yamaha for Windows and Mac only -there exist no other software that would do the job.

There exist some Windows emulators for Linux.

There are SO many (like 10's of thousands) of second hand Windows pc's and laptops on sale that for very little outlay you could have a perfectly serviceable Windows 10 laptop or pc to use for all your Yamaha files.
Ask around, you will soon find one.  In this area alone I can see 8 within 10 miles at under £30....peanuts.

That would be my solution.  Simple and sorted.

I should pick up my new SX900 from the dealer today.
I will try with Wine emulation for Linux first and see how it's going.

I hope that you get great pleasure using your new SX900.  :D
The SX keyboards are superb and sensibly priced too.

You've made a very good choice, and you'll get lots of help and advice.

Try your Wine emulation by all means, it's your choice, but if you don't get any joy, look out for a
used Windows PC or laptop as I suggested.

Anything with Windows 10 on it will make using all Yamaha files an absolute doddle.

I have an old i7 Dell Latitude E6230 running Windows 10pro  that sits near my keyboard. Cost me about £30 off Ebay and works fabulously. I use it solely for my music. Older Dell business laptops are pretty bombproof, they are really very well made, have an ethernet connection, AND, a big plus, very easy to work on should you need to. Swap a drive, or a fan, or add memory etc etc.   Most of these new slimline all singing, all dancing modern laptops are not!

Last evening I tried and got it confirmed: Wine emulation on Linux can't run Windows YEM.

I'll look after:

1. second hand / refurbrished I5 with 8 gig and Win 11... then I want audio / MIDI interface (read: Windows problems, latency problems, mental problems :-)......or
2. buy new Imac M3 and feel safe for next 8-10 years without latency or need of separate audio /MIDI interface  ;D

The future is bright.... Santa is coming  ;)

Hi Flipper2,

I also have a LINUX netbook. And YEM runs fine with wine. I use it to transfer new voices (.sf2 files) to my PSR-SX600: inside YEM I create a new pack with my voices and save it as a pack install file on a USB stick. On the SX600 I can install this file as an expansion pack.

I use Xubuntu 22.04 with wine version 8.0.2 and YEM version 2.7.0.

Give it a try on your Linux machine!
