After moving from Montage to Genos 1 2 years ago, I thought I would be set for a while.

Growing up around/selling Lowrey Organs, I learned 'keyboard lust". What's next? What's next?
It got me again!

Genos 2 looks like Genos 1. That's not exciting. We all need new lights and buttons.
Genos 2 has similar menus to Genos 1.
Styles can sound similar/alike - - -  at first.

But on Day 2, and just a little more time - and listening - I began to appreciate the differences.
Genos 1 is a great instrument. Genos 2 just sounds better to me on many/most sounds/styles.
The new Styles are contemporary, not too busy and sound amazing.

I liken the sound difference to the difference between my favorite music played "CD quality" vs the new spacial audio, like Dolby Atmos.
I loved listening before.
But once you understand and hear Dolby Atmos with good headphones, music not mixed in DA sounds less interesting.

That's how I would compare G1 to G2.
Both are great.
One is even greater.

Yes I find the overall sound is much better on Genos2 and also the styles sound so much more interesting.

Thanks for the report!

I don't plan to upgrade to Genos2 -- Yamaha got my money for a different keyboard.  :)

So, I've converted about 12 or so R&B-ish styles to Genos1. The styles -- especially the drums -- are very well-played.

I hope they hire the same session players for Genos3.  :D

Have fun, everybody -- pj
