I also have OBS Studio V30.0.0 installed. But I won't get my Genos2 until tomorrow (if the snow doesn't stop the delivery person... ;) ). I will test the G2 USB Audio Interface with OBS over the next few days and report back here.

Best regards,
Chris

Anybody used the Genos 2 with a UAD Apollo X4 thunderbolt sound card?

the g2 does not demand any particular audio interface.
any interface with 2 analog audio line-level inputs will be just fine.

Or you can simply use the internal 2-channel (stereo) USB audio interface (44.1 kHz / 32-bit) of the Genos2 (which this thread is actually about ;) ). An external audio interface is only necessary if you want to record more than 2 audio channels at the same time.

Nobody mentions the steinberg driver that cannot go under 10ms at 512 samples with this new interface.
Putting it down to 5 ms and 256 samples is surely where it schould be in this day and age without stuttering.

Hello everyone,

I have a question, can anyone explain to me how do you record audio in 32bit ?
windows doesnt even regonize 32bit on this interface ?
I installed the yamaha usb driver
windows  only reports 24bit on its properties
i try'd eveything but i can only record in 16bit ???
then i bought Music Maker Maker 2024 but that also didnt change anything
Am i missing something here ???

Thanks in advance
Ed

Welcome to the PSR Tutorial Forum, Ed!

Unfortunately, as far as I know, Music Maker is limited to a maximum of 16-bit resolution for wave export. Music Maker probably works with a higher resolution internally, but to my knowledge it can only export 16-bit wav files.

The basic functions of a DAW, such as MIDI and audio, are present, but Music Maker is more likely intended to enhance a piece consisting of loops with your own melody or vocals, for example.

In order to export Audio files with a higher resolution, a "real" DAW such as Samplitude or Cubase is required.

Chris

It's been a while since I last posted on this forum.

In the past I always found the ASIO4All driver provided better latency than Steinberg's ASIO drivers.

I haven't upgraded to latest Cubase versions for some years so this may no longer be true.

I am not sure if the Genos 2 audio interface supports ASIO direct monitoring, but maybe it's worth seeing if it does?

Hi Jugge

Thanks for mentioning direct monitoring as nearly blew my ears off  ;D Sausages to That!! ::) :P ;D
This is the first time i tried recording in Cubase 13 using the Genos interface. It is a little different from using the Focusrite. The Genos Interface sounds excellent quality though. So it looks like the interface is 10ms at 512 unless someone else can get it lower.
I did midi recording and that went ok.
Then to record audio you have to put a midi track in first blank  and then underneath an audio track and a wave track is recorded ok.
I tried the direct monitoring and my DXR's started sqealing and it was an ever increasing volume. Sonic Attack!! :P ::) For a moment i panicked and could not find the stop button and went for a instant Cubase shutdown. Must be a loop i created.
I have used Asio For All in the past , but it always was inferior to my Focusrite drivers. That was sometime back when i had to wait for Focusrite to update their drivers.
Ears back to normal now  ;D

All the best
John

Hello, is it possible to assign the audio signal that goes through USB to the microphone signal instead of the main mix?
Background of this question: I sing and play at the same time. I wish to record my singing via audio and my playing via MIDI. I cannot achieve this using the onboard recorders which record either MIDI or audio. But it would be very easy to achieve with Cubasis on IPAD (or with any other DAW). The prerequisite is to be able to route the Mic audio signal through USB... I can imagine that people like me who write songs have this requirement.

Is the Genos 2 USB Audio interface class compliant such that it can work with an IPAD or a Mac without a driver?  I'm assuming no since it seems to require use of the Steinberg driver.

Hi Ric4001,

Here is a quote from the Genos2 product page:

QuoteUSB Audio

With Genos2's built-in USB Audio Interface, audio data can be sent and received with just a single USB cable.

The new USB Audio Interface allows for studio-quality audio to be recorded using the Rec'n'Share app or any DAW with just a single USB cable. Great for sharing your performance with your friends or for high quality music production

The Genos2 USB Audio Interface works with Android devices as well as iPhone/iPad (e.g. with the mentioned Rec'n'Share app), so it must be Class Compliant.

The "Computer-related Operations" online manual (valid for all Yamaha keyboards that have the corresponding functions) says:
Audio Transfer / Mac: Standard driver on macOS can be used; there is no need to install another driver.
>>> https://manual.yamaha.com/mi/common/computer/en/computer_en_rm_w0_04.htm#_Connecting_a_Computer

Unfortunately I can't test the latter because I'm only working with Windows PCs at the moment. (My "good old" Power Mac 7500 from 1996, with 100 MHz clock speed and 1 GB hard drive (!), is now "slightly outdated" ... ;) )

After various attempts, I was able to configure the Genos 2 audio interface to OBS Studio. It works flawlessly and there is no need to use an external audio interface

Hi lut112,

Thanks for your report and confirmation that it works with OBS Studio!.

I received my Genos2 yesterday and of course I had a lot to do with the initial setup. ;)
