"but i think there will be more to come from Yamaha for Genos 2"

It would be really interesting to know what Yamaha plans for the future, as the change between the G1 and G2 was mostly cosmetic.
There is no information anywhere about whether there have been any changes inside the device that would enable some significant
changes via updates in the future, or does the G2 contain exactly the same parts as before, if only slightly limited...
Is the G2 future-proof??

I can understand that you may have had expectations that might have been a touch unrealistic and therefore your hopes have not been realized. But do you really think there have only been cosmetic changes? What's that expression, Raining on Someone's Parade. tyrosman posted about how happy he was to be getting his Genos 2 and instead of saying congratulations, you feel that your comment was appropriate.  :-\

Hi, and my apologies. My intention was in no way to detract from Tyrosman's satisfaction. My comment was related to his mention of new opportunities in the future. So the question is whether there have been any changes inside the G2 keyboard that would be good to know for the future.

Congrats tyrosman, I'm excited for you (and for any other new G2 owner!). Still waiting for mine :) I can feel the energy from you at how excited you are and that's really great to see, there should be more of this.

Also you're absolutely correct, the G1 is still a fantastic instrument and those who want to upgrade just to a G1, you will still be getting something special there too and now at great prices.

I agree with your view.
I'm sure there will be many new G2 owners enjoying themselves this weekend and best of luck to them.  The first weekend with a new board is always magic.
Having said that, the Genos 1 was an entirely new concept from the Tyros range but the Genos 2 does seem to be very similar with many new styles and some new sounds.
Are there any real differences because I haven't spotted any.  The sound seems clearer somehow and, as Leigh Wilbraham said, with better separation. The new styles are good as expected.
Those of us who don't have the new model, know nothing regarding any ground breaking new features so there's nothing wrong in asking if there are any.
My first move,  was always a trip to the local dealers and spend a couple of hours actually playing but those days have now gone because we no longer have any dealers.
G2 then, is obviously going to be an improvement on G1 but it is hard to tell, at the moment,  whether it's enough to warrant the purchase if we already have a Genos.
I've already made my decision but there must be many others who are still wavering and I wouldn't know what to tell them.

Well I received my Genos 2 Yesterday and can tell you that the quality of sound and new drum kits our brilliant. The screen functions have been improved now with anti glare and at more of a tilt. The volumes on the sliders no longer jump. We have three more shortcut buttons that are very useful. The OTS is now nicely balanced and very usable. The addition of ambience to the knobs is very useful and the dynamics to the style is great.
We have a playlist of over 1500 records which now includes the name of the style as well as song title. The new piano's are great as are all the other new voices.
Yamaha have another winner here. Once you sit and play it you don't want to stop.

First of all: CONGRATS Tyrosman, you're going to love it! As I think most all arrangerplayers that gets a G2 will.

It's no doubt that G2 is a great keyboard. It's probably by far the best arrangerkeyboard from Yamaha at the market till now, but if it's the very best they could have done, I'm not too sure about.
Never the less, I took my decision to add a Pa5X, but I'm going to hunt for a G2 as well....  St.Claus, do you hear me? 8)

For the open minded people, here is a video that is worth to see. It's about pro and cons between different alternatives, and I think it's a down to earth and unbiased comparision by a musician that have a couple of keyboards to choose between.....
And as he say:
Choose what is the best for you.
Well said!

hi Gunnar,
I just watched that video, before I saw your post, and in my opinion, that's very bad made comparison -I even made a comment (which I almost never do).
In short: it's not informative at all. We can get all that basic info just by looking on keyboard picture and by checking specifications.

As said, it's just my opinion

Once again, Congrats Eileen! :)

I've got a new arranger yesterday too.
Got it at afternoon, and as soon as I had it out of the box and powered up, I could not leave it. It was almost early morning today before I managed to get up from the chair and take a break.
I don't dare to think what's going to happen when a new G2 arrive as well....
My wife will probably lock me out of the musicroom, or maybe just lock me in and let me stay there.  ;D ;D ;D

I agree. I don't know if it's worth an upgrade for someone — that's personal to them — but I agree with the improvements you've mentioned and I love mine too. Where do you find a playlist of records? This is something I'm not familiar with.

Thank you. I didn't understand what the playlist was. I am not ready to download the packs. Don't know that I want them at this point, but I'll check out the playlist. Hugs and thanks, Beth

Hello!

Loving watching those getting their Genos 2. Soon for me too.  Last nite I played my Genos 1 for several hours. It was one of those magic sessions when my fingers did no wrong. As I'm intently listening to the music I am at a total loss wondering how anything is going to top what I am hearing. These are the same thoughts I had on the eve of getting Genos 1. Playing a Tyros 5 I wondered the same things. Many then also were disappointed thinking Genos 1 from Tyros 5 was just a "cosmetic upgrade". I didn't think that then and I don't think that now. "cosmetic upgrade"?    What exactly does that mean?  I'm hearing more than that. Maybe if it came in white it would sound better........... -charley

JohnS (Ugawoga)

I give you my honest opinion

When listening to Robinez doing the difference between Pax5 and Genos 2 in the Stylemaker i found that the Genos 2 was more subtle and rounded with more warmth
The Pax 5 sound bright and lighter.

Both sounded ok but the Genos sounded much more pleasant to listen to with i would say more character..
This is my opinion only to my ears being very critical :)

So the question is whether there have been any changes inside the G2 keyboard.

The Service Manual for the Genos2 will give the answer to that. However, I don't know if the manual already exists. I'm looking forward to someone sharing it here.

Of course there have been changes. The new Steinburg reverb section for one. New Ambient drum kits. Extra buttons added. Just play one and you will see.
