Does anyone know whether Yamaha is already actively working to solve the problem with the Voices & Style Expansion packs and Yem?
I would like to have this working again on my Genos 2.
Quite a mistake from Yamaha that this does not work immediately on the Genos 2. :-[

As long as you say there are a lot of people which ordered this keyboard and didn' received it, there are people which already have it and they need those converted packs. If you have not problem because you stay at home and play, others perform on the gigs and parties. I see it as a BIG problem and in the same time Yamaha being without respect to its clients. It is unprofessional what Yamaha do regarding this issue. They should have had these packages converted at the time of the release of the G2. They didn't learn anything from the release of Genos 1, when the same thing happened.

Oh well, they (Mr. Yamaha) try to be customer friendly as much as possible. But they don't lose sleep over it if everything doesn't go completely smoothly. They will of course get to work on adjusting and solving things. But in their own way. They expect and know that they will sell enough Genossen2 (and other models) in the long run to satisfy their shareholders. Some criticism here and there, they know how to deal with it. Losing a few dissatisfied and/or critical customers is a risk of the trade. There is a much larger breeding ground of potential future customers and the current clientele is quite brand loyal. So they both try to keep them happy. As long as there are no competitors to fear and there are sufficient sales, then it will be like previous years: 'business as usual'  ;)
My best regards,

If you're a 'professional' and can't adjust your performances using all the new voices, well you do have BIG problems.  :)
It would have been nice to be able to load up all those free expansions and use very old voices to perform, but not the end of the world, right.  ;)

Usually 'professionals' who rely on having the ability to perform exactly the same sets with their new equipment as they did with their old, they wait until any and all problems have been found and fixed before upgrading.

Happy playing.  :D

Even if I criticize them, who said I will not buy Yamaha keyboards anymore? Right now I don't find it very well done, there are more things to do to deserve its price or rather the price difference between Genos 1 and Genos 2. Maybe after some time when they will increase the memory with OS update and other features implemented, maybe then will become to worth it. IMO right now it is not, I say this because I have Genos1 and I really don't see anything "wow" in Genos2.

And you're the third one today   ;D ;D

I think you all don't understand that a keyboard accepting samples is not anymore a keyboard which MUST use internal sound  ;D
We are a lot of users which I don't know if we use 20% of internal voices, we have our samples lol ... These keyboards for you means only internal sounds???

What market share of keyboard arrangers (e.g. in this segment!) should Yamaha be 'afraid of'?  ;)

I answer you with another question: Which are the competitors right now in the arrangers segment of the market? If you don't know, it's clear for me LoL

No you don't, and you'll never do, as I will never do what you do. We all are different, live in diferent places with different kind of music. If you have more to say, let's talk in private, is no place here for more than that!

Sorry for disturbing you with my opinion, which I will always keep  :)

Let's go On-Topic!!!

No I understand, you don't have to 'just' use internal sounds. But if I'm paying $7000 or more then I'm darn well going to use more than 20%.

Hello,

I couldn't imagine gigging with any brand new keyboard until the bugs are worked out. My gosh it's only been a week.  -charley

I think you could say both "sides" have fair points.

Yamaha were not exactly rushed into releasing G2 early. They have had plenty of time to make the packs available for G2. I don't know but - I doubt there is any change in the actual internal format, they just have to recompile the packs with a new G2 product key. Really, they should have done this already.

And on the other hand, if you rely on those packs being available to make your living, perhaps you need to be patient and wait for them to appear. While G2 is "better" than G1 it is unlikely that your audience will notice the difference, so what's the urgency to change.

There are lots of new voices to explore on Genos2 so I am not to worried about loading in packs before trying them. I understand they will be ready soon anyway.
I used to gig but have now retired from doing so. Always had a set up that did not contain pack styles or voices just in case something happened to the packs.

Dear Eileen and arranger friends

In my experience as a part of the team that develops the Regional Latino Expansion Packs, you can use the PSR SX900 Expansion Packs using the PPF or CPF files with the Yamaha Expansion Manager and make a PPI or CPI file to install in the keyboard.......

I recommend you to install the Romance Latino Expansion pack, you can play Ballads, Rhumbas and Boleros, songs like Amor, Amor, Besame Mucho, You Belong to my Heard, Perhaps Perhaps, What a difference a day makes, etc., there are some "tropical Boleros", as well, some more contemporary Boleros and Styles, if you are familiar with Laura Pausini, Julio Iglesias, Luis Miguel (Romances Cds), you get the idea. Also the New Latino Worship pack (about to come out soon), with some ballads, and Funky Contemporary, some Gospel, and lots of Jubilation and adoration styles, like Soca, Bolero celestial, etc....

I hope it helps, in my Genos I have installed around 35 expansion packs....and still have plenty of memory left......

Just my 2 cents

Thank you Manuel,
