Oh I would bet real money that despite the topic title that wouldn't work. After a few post's it would end up like all the others.  ;D There seems to be some confusion between 'Critique' and 'Criticism'. Also a lot of people just want to get a lot of negative energy out of their system so they complain about everything, then they complain about the people who point this out, then they complain because people don't agree with them, then they complain about the cost, then they complain about cost cutting measures.  :-\ Other than that they seem fairly well adjusted.  ;)

I agree and have been thinking the same thing. Critique is an honest evaluation of something, which may or may not be critical. I am having my own struggles with the machine, but that's because I would need an encyclopedia in my head to do everything right. And machines have their limitations. I would like to play better myself and will focus my "critique" on improving my musicianship at the moment. haha. No criticism intended of anyone else.

I feel like this is a very unique situation.

I own a PSR-SX900 and auditioned the Genos 2 for 3 weeks and returned it because, while it was really great, it wouldn't make me personally happy enough to spend the extra money. Most of the sounds to my ears, were very close. So I feel that I am somewhat objective, being in neither a Genos 1 or 2 camp.

There is a lot of money involved and that amount of money means more to some people than others. Nobody likes to throw their money away but everybody has a different tolerance on how they spend.

When the Pa5X and Event were released, the comments I kept reading were "Genos still compares favorably, but it's 6 years old. Wait until we see what Yamaha comes up with next, it's going to be spectacular"

So Genos fans got very hopeful and excited, and once the announcement came out,
If you put truth serum in all of us, I believe the vast majority of us were wishing for a whole lot more, especially compared to those two competitor models. Of course Genos 2 owners aren't quick to say this because they feel they are under attack.

So what happens next, we decide if it's good enough and spend accordingly.

Those that feel disappointed, get upset with people praising what is less than we all expected. Maybe like it sends the wrong message to Yamaha that they don't have to try so hard and people will buy it anyway. So they say mean things.

But...the people that have decided it is good enough and are quite happy with it, don't want to be told they are just sheep following what Yamaha gives them.  It brings joy to so many people and people should buy and enjoy what makes them happy without being criticized for that.

I thinks it speaks to the Yamaha loyalty we all have. Passions run so deep. I don't think there are many instruments that would evoke this emotion.

Genos2 is a nice bump up, that doesn't move the needle a whole lot. Some people appreciate it, while others feel let down and they won't just go away quietly, they want to express these raw emotions and take it out on those that like the upgrade.

It will probably be 2030 until the Next Genos comes along so that's a long time and people need to get these feelings out, but we need to be more civil and state facts. I know it doesn't feel like it at the moment, but we are all in the Yamaha family. It's like mom got remarried and some siblings like the new husband and others are furious and don't want the siblings to be nice to the new man who isn't good enough.

I keep pointing out that the forum is like a dinner table discussion. Sometimes it's simple question and answer, sometimes topics take on a life of their own and then ramble, just like an informal dinner table debate. That irritates some people who have a strong sense of 'order', they want it to be more formal, controlled like a senate debate, or a courtroom, and stay completely on topic or be cut. But it's never going to be like that, or should be like that.
However, having said that, maybe this thread has rambled on long enough, and most people have had their say. So it might be time to end it.
