I think the  biggest problem lies elsewhere. You need to download the latest version of YEM when you receive the keyboard you need to download the dx7 pack and genos1 pack these are linked to your own N27 number so they can`t be used elsewhere.
So say you get your keyboard it will be boxed and you have bonus software from your dealer he can`t remotely put this on like in batch form has to be done individually. Now this my hold up delivery

JohnS (Ugawoga)

Hi Colin
If E-pianos give me the extra software on a stick that would not be a problem.
It is not hard to install even if someone new has the instructions
Genos, I7 computer 32 gig ram, Focusrite 6i6, Cubase controller, Focal Alpha Monitors, Yamaha DXR8 Speakers
Cubase 10, Sonarworks, Izotope.  Sampletank, Arturia and Korg software.  Now IK Mixbox

This may be of interest to anyone who had or is considering upgrading to a Genos 2 with the store called GAK by any chance. I noticed they offer a sell your gear program.

When I put my excellent condition 2022 Genos 1 and photo on the form I got a response within minutes:

"Unfortunately this is not something we'd be looking to take in for cash however I would advise listing it privately on Facebook Marketplace, Reverb or eBay as it will likely sell on one of these sites."

Pretty surprised to read that to be honest and a first out of the ones I've had quotes from.

:o

To be honest I never thought anyone could beat AC Hamilton but not taking the Genos 1 at all? Wow.

The problem here ,every part exchange needs to be re guaranteed and resold if there is any issue with the keyboard all the profit has gone.
So there are two camps ones that sell at full price and take P/x the others who won`t take P/x but discount the keyboard the difference in price from one company to another is ridiculous  and is going to cripple the market, currently people are advertising keyboards and just guessing.
So imagine taking 50 G1 it means the dealer is roughly £100k in the hole if they don`t sell quickly expect the genos 1 used go into freefall

True, but I don't think any single store is dealing in those volumes. Maybe 10% of that.

Plus I think it's just weird to say the least. Even if the offer would be a measly £1350 - £1500, some would still think that upgrading to a Genos 2 is worthwhile, just for the ease. But one can't even add in the form that you are actually interested in another product at the same store.
With no product exchange possible at all and just a blunt "sell it yourself" I think it just puts people off upgrading completely.

I doubt many new cars would be sold if that was the attitude everywhere.

Luckily it's not.  :)

Also, has anyone actually ever used Facebook marketplace for music instruments? With the amount of scammers on Facebook and bootleggers trying to flog official Marvel t shirts with a photoshopped Robert Downey Jr. on there able to use the Facebook add platform (even if their bootleg account is only 1 day old!) I would never trust it with anything over £10.

With eBay I've had decent success, despite the disgusting 15% or so eBay tax.

hi Andrew,
Many stores just don't sell used items (Whitecolin mentioned some of the reasons).
I know it's more comfortable just to swap keyboards in store and forget about whole thing. On the other hand, in most cases you also loose the money: the margin that store puts on your used keyboard can be your money if you sell it by yourself on used market. I can only guess, but we talk about at least 20% of keyboard value. Is worth to consider, I think.

PS. Just saw your latest post... well, I wouldn't really compare cars with keyboards market.
And yes, Facebook (and similar) is a joke and you only waste time (and nerves) there. In past I sold two keyboards on local used market (both within a days), because at least here in my country, people prefer to see (and maybe try) before they buy used item -because as you know, there's a lot of scam nowadays.

Someone posted on here recently that he had ordered a Genos 2 from A&C Hamilton with the same  deal as I got from them,A&C told him that he was No.30 on the waiting list,at this rate the market may become flooded for a while with G1 trade-ins ,surely this will have an affect on the Genos 1 price on the used market, many other music stores will also be trading in G1s ,time will tell how this affects used prices.

It absolutely affects used prices, no doubt, in the entire market but I'm surprised that shops that are trying to sell 5 grand products wouldn't be prepared for that.

People trying to sell a Genos 1 (whether you have the stand and/or speakers) for £3000 on eBay right now are going to be disappointed for sure.
Even a year ago I think that was an unrealistic price to be honest.
£2000 tops now. A year ago £2500.

Gear4music has a new Genos 1 for sale with 3 year warranty for £3199. Why bother with eBay for £3000.
People have unrealistic expectations.

Still having said that, any incentive to buy with an exchange would be better than none from stores carrying these expensive next generation keyboards.

A&C Hamilton were initially quoting £2399 plus your Genos 1 as a trade-in but have now increased it to £2799 because in their words "due to the market being saturated with Genos 1's"

It's still pretty decent.
The original trade in price seemed almost too good to be true to me.
I was quoted £1800 trade in value with Bonners I think in 2020 or so.

Yes it is surprising how fast these keyboards are selling. I guessed they could not hold some of the offers for long.

I have found another 2 UK retailers now selling the G2 for under £4k

Rimmers - pre order only https://www.rimmersmusic.co.uk/yamaha-genos-2-digital-workstation-keyboard-p53995

PMT online - appears to be in stock https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/yamaha-genos2-workstation-arranger-keyboard   (cashback too via TopCashback @ 2.1%)

I'm on Promenade's waiting list (moved up 3 places to 5th in the last 2 days so stock must be trickling in).

Wouldn't be surprised if more retailers drop the price below £4k so still mulling over whether to bite the bullet or wait.  With 3 retailers now offering it for £3999 it does seem to be drifting towards this baseline, given A&C and Bonners are still sitting at £4400 and £4600 which is strange. I have no problem with PMT and Rimmers personally as have dealt with them before with no issues.

Thought's welcome.

you will talk yourself out of a deal if your not careful, Yamaha are tracking whats going on and will put a stop to this price war which damage existing part exchanges and future sales

Des O

I bought my G1 from PMT, 3299 with speaker set & Stand 2 offer and half years ago just when the lergy started waited 2 weeks a week after they got locked down. It came from Yamaha London.

Hi Andy

I doubt that Promenade have had any deliveries of Genos 2 yet.
If you believe you've moved up the list it's probably due to buyers having second thoughts and pulling out. I'm also on their list, possibly ahead of you.
You can generally go on to their website and see a daily delivery of all instruments they receive.

Gordon

andy0140

Hi there Gordon

Yes, its possible, although I was told that 2 had gone out the door since Tuesday, but wasnt given any sort of timeline so quite possibly you're correct.

I'll give PMT a call tomorrow and enquire about their stock, there were (are) 2 stores that had "limited stock" of the g2...whatever this means, all the other branches were "out of stock" so there must be some floating around !

Cheers !

Why now is there such a price drop in some places?
Genos, I7 computer 32 gig ram, Focusrite 6i6, Cubase controller, Focal Alpha Monitors, Yamaha DXR8 Speakers
Cubase 10, Sonarworks, Izotope.  Sampletank, Arturia and Korg software.  Now IK Mixbox

I don't see that price lasting long and if Yamaha think they are not being fair to other dealers they may not get much stock to sell.
I made my deal that suited me nicely a couple of weeks ago and am sticking to it.

Yes Eileen ,i am sticking with what i paid as it is best to stick with the dealer you know

Market economics and competition probably got a lot to do with it,in a few weeks after the initial rush things will settle.

Congrats!  We all know you're going to love G2. :)
That will be lots of fun for both of us this afternoon.  ;D
The new Pa5X is going to be delivered at my doorstep in about a couple of hours if not the icy roads make the lorry slip out off the track.  ::)

That said, I think is a good chance the G1 will be replaced by G2 as well. I'm chatting a lot with St.Claus regarding the case....

However they do price match - so having a chat, particularly if you're a loyal customer of over 25 years as I am, may be worthwhile.
