Everything I have seen so far - although admittedly that isn't too much - confirms what I expected. A very nice keyboard, definitely an improvement over the previous model, and competitive with anything else out there. In fact arguably still the leader. But at the same time, not an absolutely, stunning, irresistible step change from Genos 1.
The technology is at the plateau phase. I said in an earlier post before it was released that I thought that many might be disappointed because typically Yamaha adds some new voices, a bunch of new styles, and a different look, while people were looking for a lot more groundbreaking feature change. But its what I expected because that is what they have always been model to model. Tyros was the same. Yamaha knows what sells, and its not piles of deep features.
If I owned an older arranger, or in the market for the first time to buy an arranger, Genos 2  would definitely be attractive. But is it attractive enough to fork out about $3000 to upgrade from Genos 1? The answer is for many, probably not, but also many will go for it without hesitation, and justifiably love what they get. That has been the case for Tyros,1 : 2: 3 : 4: 5, so I expect the same will be true again.
Is the actual sound improved ....well there is no way to tell just from these internet demos. Maybe an in depth test side by side on the same sound system will show that it is better. But realistically there is no way that can be more than marginal at best, because what is a out there is already so good. I think the most you can say at the moment is that both Genos 1 and Genos 2 sound great.

It is an excellent demo, from what I've heard so far.

BUT I am also being very careful trying not to be roped in by excellent performers such as Martin and Peter.
Tony from Bonners is another.
All 3 can play so well I almost want to buy every instrument they touch.

I have to always think, how will it work / sound when I am using it, not them.

The French Genos 1 / Genos 2 comparison video was eye opening or should I say ear opening.
Unless you really want the new styles and FM stuff I don't think there is that much here that can't be done on a Genos1.

I've hardly tapped the possibilities of the Genos 1 I often think. When I used a simple midi song from Miley Cyrus' "Flowers" earlier this year and revoiced it thoroughly, recorded it with playing parts with both hands rather than chords, I got many comments asking me where I got that new fantastic sounding Genos style...  8)
