Thanks for the picture and the highlighting.

The new raised area is much wider than the monochrome sub display. I conjecture that the main touch screen has more of a tilt, too. The screens may not be tilt-able, but the fixed tilt angle is bigger. Looking at my G1, I can see (literally) how this change will improve readability, especially when seated.

The teaser is titled "Real Ambience". Combined with "REVelation", I wonder if Yamaha have added a new convolution reverb? Didn't notice the play on words before: "REV" "elation"

Good wishes to all craving G2 -- pj

Let's see the Romanians cop the tilted screen in their Photoshopped pictures.  ;D  ;D
The words 'Real Ambience' and 'REVelation' strongly suggest that these effects have been added to the Genos2. Yamaha owns Cubase. It would be a bit 'stupid' if they didn't use elements from that program. 'Raw Ambience' and 'REVelation' are plug-ins from Cubase and you can read what they actually add to the DAW. It seems realistic to me that these have now been added. Maybe in a slightly different guise, but that is more a matter of design. In itself, of course, very legitimate and even a good development. Cubase is also a top product in itself.
My best regards,
Ton

Outputs seem really very different. I hope we will have balanced outputs

Nice catch, Ton! If truly new, that would put G2 ahead of Montage M.

Cool and thanks -- pj

I also wonder if the "REV" is related to the "REVO drums" concept that came along with Genos 1 - maybe they are going to add more REVo drum kits, or use the REVO concept in some new sounds (so there are multiple samples even at the same velocity, for a more "human-variation" sound when playing the same note several times with same or nearly same velocity?  REVO tympani or REVO strings?!  (just a thought) ...

That's a great point. Great idea: to my knowledge. That would of course make it sound incredibly awesome 😎. And maybe Super Art! 3 voices may be introduced too: We just have to wait and see what the final results are.😁.

I had been waiting for round robin technology on guitars. I hope this is it.  :-X
Never had a keyboard of my own but through my life I've played these ones:
psr 19, psr 530, psr 730, psr 2000, psr 3000, psr s900, psr s950 and Tyros 4

I think the photo has been retouched and the Genos 2 is slightly distorted in width. You can see quite clearly that the LEDs and slider positions don't match. They must not be motorized. It seems to me that we can see the beginning of an eleventh registration button (or registration buttons are closer)

I think there will be a lot of (perhaps small) evolutions in Genos 2. I hope SSS.

A good picture I get on psrtutorial forum.

The genos 2 is "deeper" especially at both ends. And we can better see the outputs and compare.

Yes. Clearly deeper at the ends  It's most likely needed to hold the larger memory and increased sounds......

It looks as if the whole of the front panel is on a steeper slope thean G1. Not quite as steep as an electone but on the way ...

Incidentally I believe most of the case is just empty space inside.

Hello!

"Cannot see the midi ins and outs at the back"        I haven't used a DIN cable in years. Everything now is USB and wireless. We shall see.......  -charley

Doesn't mean to say others don't use DIN connectors. It's an easy way to hook up a second keyboard (weighted 88 keys for example) rather than having to faff around at all in a menu.

The whole point of a top of the line keyboard is it has all sorts of flexibility on it, not just what suits a hand full of people.

Regardless, the DIN ports are clearly there on the G2.
Still used heavily in professional studios.

If the Genos 2 had been made by Apple, I could indeed see it no longer having the DIN ports.  ;D

It would be very weird for Yamaha to neglect those exact ports considering much of the system is based on MIDI in the first place. On a SX600 they can get away with it, but above? Nah....

I find the product marketing a bit confusing;  Genos 2 was the Branded Operating System 2.0 release; but the new Generation Genos is branded Genos 2 conflicting the previous marketing???

Also, as far as Genos 1 values dropping because of the new keyboard; we will have to wait and see if the new features are compelling enough for people to purchase a new generation.

Otherwise, the Genos 1 values should hold their own as folks will just stick with the existing model due to price/performance/value proposition.

When the Genos released their new OS, it was Genos V2.1, not Genos 2; now we have a new model, Genos 2, and we will all know the specs in 48 hours. Nevertheless, it is a new model, and whatever the terminology is, I am eagerly looking forward to its release, which promises to exceed the older Genos features!

Sorry Uday, but you are incorrect; Version 2.0 was released as the Superior Pack November 15, 2019 (coincidentally)!   Version 2.1 was released subsequently to add the following:

Quick Tempo Adjustment
In the Home Display, Tempo is assigned as default to the Data Dial, making for quick and easy tempo adjustments.

Selectable Dial behavior
You can now choose whether the Data Dial automatically loads content when it is highlighted or, highlighted content is not loaded until Enter is pressed.

Create more with longer Style sections
Some Style Creator users found the 32 measures limit for Style sections too restrictive. So, in this update, we've quadrupled it to 128 measures per Style section.

Agreed, very much so in fact.

I thought it was really strange that Genos V2 thing and now Genos 2. Just look at the number of confusing Google / YouTube searches with this and the advantage many people took for clickbait, saying they have a Genos 2 when it was just a video about a Genos and the latest firmware etc.

If anything, why not call it Genos II or Genos B? I think it ties in better with the whole ancient Greek & Roman type name anyway.

Or something more ***ier like Genos X or... more aptly GENOS NEO.

OR just don't faf around with naming things number 2 if it is just firmware updates.  ;D

What next in a year? Genos2 2 ?

The point I was making was that V2.0 or V2.1 is still Genos 1.

Having sent an Email to my local Music Shop, they replied —

Thanks for your interest in "2".

They did not mention Genos, I wonder if this emphasis is significant.

Hope so....I think those encoders and sliders from the 1st Gen Montage carried over has to be an indication of some Montage DNA ?

Also I hope they have done to Genos 2 as they have with Montage output stage (PAC) the results going from 1st Gen Montage to 2nd Gen Montage M are stunning, well to my ears, in my studio anyway.....

Very strange that additional plastic near the second display, I don't get the purpose of it...

Looks like the screen protruding from the case, so must be increased angle I would think...

I reckon this entire area is indeed tilt-able and can lay flat or be angled up to 45 degrees.
Hence the reason for combining these screens into one part.

It looks separate from the casing so to me it looks tiltable :)
It could go flat which would be better for people who gig travelling.
