Thanks Reya

About the only thing I can glean is that they are possibly using encoders, which in my opinion is long overdue. Starting to get interesting.
Maybe a Montage with a Genos style engine or a Genos with a Montage sound engine, depending how you look at it.

I prefer a little from Montage, but more from PSR-A5000 style engine, mybe more than that, because it is possible, of course, and portamento parameters and of course the needed tiltable screen  ;D ;D ;D!!! Which it does not show at all  ;D
There will be a BIG LOL if it has not :))))))

I hope we are not getting closer to becoming a DJ instead of playing the arranger with some of these features?....
I guess we'll see very soon ::)

Keyboard Master

This looks very cool 😎 when I saw the knobs it seems they have led lights around them. One guess for the voices is for the brass I'm guessing they probably added more brass sounds in it as well.

cyber swine

My Genos desperately needs a rack mate.  I have an old Casio and an 88 key Kawai MP 7 (that I will never part with) but neither fit the bill.  From the looks of these teasers Yamaha are likely going to lose a near guaranteed sale with me.  I'm watching many Korg videos and studying and learning and reading and waiting.....

Took a quick look and gotta run...

Same FSX keyboard (76 keys). Rotary encoders instead of potentiometer. The sub display appears to be the same size as the gen 1.

I wish that guy would shave and his keyboard ecstasy face gives me the creeps.  :D

See ya -- pj

I see what you mean here. And even though it can still be very minor tweaks on the outside wait till you dive into the features like style creator. And the Voices you never know how many more preset voices were added in. Look out for Super Articulation 3 voices possible. Higher note polyphony. Etc.

Many thanks Ton

Looks like 6 encoders, I had only noticed the one, maybe they have scrapped the sliders.

It seems that Yamaha (shareholders) need money: a new series of Montages + the Genos 2x + new Cubase 13. The Yen is plummeting on the stock market.
The price of the Synthesizer Montage M7 (76 keys) is approximately €4200/$4000. I assume that the Genos2 (76-key version) will cost more than €5,500 (excl. speakers). A new Genos1 €3200,- (incl. speakers+stand). The ball is now in half of the customers' court ... Mmm.. and again Mmm..??  ::)

My thoughts in no particular order:

Buttons and lay-out

  • Same button layout for Multipads and Keyboard voices. Great, there's no need to change something that works.
  • Same buttons. I love how they look and feel, just hope the hinges are stronger.
  • Ink still on the outside of the buttons. Hopefully with stronger ink.
  • Selected knobs look more red than the orange of the G1. Will look better and in line with the encoder LEDs.
  • Encoder knobs are really nice and very practical! Does this mean we also get faders with LEDs on the side? I hope so!

Body

  • The body just above the encoder knobs looks recessed. Above the small display I think we can see the ridge from teaser #2. That's why the ridge looks so wide: it encompasses both the main display and the encoder display.
  • I think the body looks a bit like a theater. The keys are flat. A small inclination for buttons, faders, display and encoder knobs. A bigger inclination for the small display all the way to the ridge.
  • The main display looks wider than the G1

Sound quality

  • The guitar sounds lovely
  • Wonderful clear high frequencies at the end of the teaser

We have had: 'Your next masterpiece' and 'REVelation'. Now 'Dynamics'.
The meaning of 'DYNAMICS' in Music:
the varying levels of volume of sound in different parts of a musical performance.

Oh..well??

Till now, just a skinned Genos 1.
... waiting...

There must be a whaaaaaaaaaaaaw
Maybe next teaser ?
Six years what have they find to whaaaaawus 😁😁

rodrigo.b

In my opinion the nylon guitar from the teaser sounds much more realistic than the old S.art Concert Guitar (They have repeated this concert guitar so many times in so many models that I am already bored)

Till now, as I've saw, only some additional leds... but we will see in functions, because I don't see so much improvement in design, which is not a good idea, as long as there was so much complains about those stupid buttons and poor ink quality! Buuuuttt we will live to see the gorgeous G2!  ;D ;D ;D
I'm already starting to LoL, because I've already know the price, which is very big for the improvements! :))))))

I'm afraid it's always the same guitar, but perhaps I'm wrong and you're right. And I was a bit disappointed by this teaser.
Are there other members who think we hear a new nylon guitar in this teaser?

Whitecolin11

The problem here is if they want you to part with a lot of money, there needs to be some major upgrades.
So far we have heard an up graded piano, a guitar that is similar to what already exists and a knob that enhances the style which already exists on the genos.
My thoughts are this, if they forget who buys these keyboards(50+) and give it more memory, ssd, compatibility with DAWS for easier editing they will miss the mark.
We want a logical user friendly keyboard, with better organ sounds, pianos, key bed, string section, audio styles, multipads that can be quantized, styles with intuitive changes and riffs like the ketron, a style creator with a logical drum editor and compatibility with previous models anything else will miss the mark.

Tommy 73

I have to say, these teaser videos are a little painful while dragging out the final release...

I think I know why they do it, clearly it has generated a lot of interest, but nevertheless it is still painful all the same :)

Yes, Yamaha may be trying to imitate the 'success' of the old Genos and fuel a need. So I think it's a bit 'overdone' now. It can work against Yamaha if the 'evoked' desire is somewhat disappointing after presentation. It doesn't seem like they have much to say?? So I'm a bit 'worried' about that now, oh well... we'll see soon...
My best regards,
Ton
