Probability it's a fake, is very high.

I would like to have such level indicators indicating the current values of the slider, as they don't move automatically when registrations change.

I don't know what to say. It is a very good fake picture, and if Genos 2 has only those minor changes, for me it will remain the Genos 1 in my hands, no Genos 2. Because it does not have a tilt display and the case is the same, which is a "-1" IMO.
Why I believe is a fake? The Tap Tempo  button now has the function of the section reset, implemented in Genos after an OS update. This function was implemented from the begining in SX900, and as you all know the button is named "Reset/Tap Tempo". In this picture is only Tap Tempo, a missing thing for the picture maker 😂
I expect for more than that, more than what this picture shows for a Genos 2, after such a waiting period!

PS: I've also expects for Genos OS update, because we know that can be more possibilities on this keyboard. Like in PSR-A5000, which was made for oriental music, there is a bounch of things that could be implemented as well in Genos, like these three:

Maybe the Yamaha MSP3A would be something for you

Thank you, Chris! This does look like a speaker/monitor that has the perfect balance between size and sound quality. I'll look into it.

The MSP-3A seems like a nice improvement over the previous MSP-3.

I wonder what the difference is between the HS-series and MSP-series. The Yamaha site isn't very clear on it. I thought the HS was designed for near-field monitoring with a flat frequency response. The MSP seems to be designed to provide a flat frequency response and sit close to the listener? Eh...

The HS seems to be made of MDF, and the MSP of plastic?

Since I "only" have the HS7, could someone with MSP experience shed some light on the differences?

The Yamaha weekend experience is being held on 24th to 27th November. l think the new Genos will be announced then.

Will it not be announced in October like the previous ones?? So they can sell them leading to Christmas?

Yes, I would think like last time. Order new Genos end of September and around October 17th Pick the keyboard up.
That would be the lead in to Christmas for many :)
It has to be close now, but still no positve leaks except the list that was not was.

*snip*
I have the slightly larger Yamaha MSP5 Studio and am very happy with it. Unfortunately, as far as I know, the MSP5 Studio are no longer manufactured. If I need more sub-bass, I combine it with an HS8S powered subwoofer (the HS series subwoofer).

I haven't had a chance to hear or test the relatively new MSP3A yet, but I think this model might be exactly what you're looking for.

Best regards,
Chris

They're no longer being sold, which is odd, the MSP5's were *great*... so great that they're *still* being made. They're used for Disklavier speakers!
I've no idea why they no longer sell these separately; I can only assume the metal casing makes it relatively too heavy to ship vs selling price (negligible compared to the weight of a Disklavier grand piano though)

For anyone who doesn't know, shipping container rentals have skyrocketed 13 to 33 times (ie 1300 to 3300%) what they cost before (2019) due to all the supply chain stains.

I use at home a pair of tannoy Gold 5" monitors, the sound amazing and have a great bas sound for such a smal speaker and very affordable, they replace my 8" Tannoy reveal and they sound equal to my ears 👂
And now hoping for the Genos 2 to connect to them 😎

Thanks for the tip, Ugawoga and for the confirmation, Tommy 73!

Are you thinking of the 8010 AWM?

I like the 8050s, but to pay €3,000 for monitors... It's a bit much and more than what I currently am willing to spend on computer speakers.  ;)

Hi Maarten

With the 8010 you will need a small Sub to get the best out of Genos, if you can i would go for a pair of 8030 at the very minimum or even the 8040 if you can push the budget, the 8040 are a really nice option.

Or just wait for Genos2 and take Genos to a store and demo a good assortment of monitors (Master EQ/Compressor with each monitor options from Genos) this will really open your eyes/ears to what can be achieved within your budget  :)

Thanks Tommy, but I am looking for small computer monitors as described in my post above about the possibly new HS3 and HS4 monitors.

For the keyboard I already have HS7, for several years already. I'm thinking about expanding those with a HS8s subwoofer. Haven't decided yet.

When I have a chance, I will listen to Genelec.

JohnS (Ugawoga)

Hi Maarten

I use Focal Alpha 50's and they are not large, but they are unbelievable for their price.
They are a little different to startup the powered amps inside them.
Instead of flicking the switch at back and increasing volume to set, you control the volume from computer with a music sound external sound box. Turn up volume then at a point the sound kicks in. I have got used to that. I suppose it is french thinking.
These are quality for under £500 a pair. Probably now they have been upgraded.
These are worth a listen. I have heard Kali's are good and Adam Audio.
It is all a matter of choice, but it may be wise to listen to these new Yamaha's once thay are released on to the market.

I wonder if that big "subdisplay" above the knobs and sliders will appear on GENOS2? The programmers could do a lot of interesting things with a display that size.

The piano keys in the new snaps don't appear to have the texturing as the "spy photos". Maybe the spy photos show a prototype or a machine sent out for sound development/pre-announcement review?

The Soundcloud audio demos cover a lot of bread and butter sounds. The organ example sounds decent -- maybe Montage M got the Stage YC rotary sim? Hope GENOS2 gets the Stage YC sim, too.

Thanks for posting the pictures here, Maarten. Gonna buy both Montage M and GENOS2?  :D

Perhaps the the textured keys are unique to the 88 hammered action version only ?

For me, Montage 2 highly probable (replace my Montage 1)
And Genos 2 will get some serious consideration after the crippled PA5X debacle...

Surely there would be some information about the new genos by now. When genos was released in 2017 the video came out on September 12th.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Sva8QktXf0

I dont think it will be this year. maybe at the beginning of next year?

I think we would have had some information a leaked photo or something.

Of course i might be wrong!!

Hello Musicman 100,

The new Genos will be released in 1 month and a half - 2 months.

Christian

That will be way too late for the Christmas market and I am sure Yamaha will not want to miss that.

Genos was realeased on the 2nd October so 2 weeks time. Maybe with the new Montage they will concentrate on that in October and maybe Genos in the Spring.

The sneak preview photo shows the 88 key version of the Montage M, so the texturing should be there. But I don't see it either.

That's been done deliberately, I think, either by carefully positioning the studio lighting and using a large softbox (so you don't get the shadows that would reveal the texturing), or by editing it out after the photo has been taken.

It strengthens my believe that the leaked photos weren't supposed to happen. I expect Yamaha to come out in October stating the texturing as a new feature.

Does seem a little odd that the Genos has not leaked yet as it would be tight for Christmas if released middle or end of November.
It was taken out of the list and the Montage had a higher number than the Genos. Whatever will be ,will be. ::)

Yes I think so too maybe they will concentrate on the Montage and do a spring release??

Like you I think there would have been something by now!!

I think there is no way it will be before Christmas unless there is some video/photo by the end of this month.i.e in the next 2 weeks.

maartenb

I also think early November.

The Montage M will be a big splash in October, and I think Yamaha want all attention on the Montage M release. A month later all attention can go to the Genos 2. Just like movie companies don't want two block buster movies released at the same time.

That's still in time for Christmas, as long as Yamaha can get enough keyboards to the stores.

Maybe Yamaha will release teaser videos in October already.

Anyway, nothing stops you from preordering the Genos 2 at your favorite store. Then you will get one of the first units the store receives.

Fully agree. The same people are interested by Genos2 and Montage M. And both can have real innovations requesting specific marketing investments.
That would explain a different planning than in 2017.

I don't think this is the case. A relatively small proportion are interested in both type of keyboards. But for the most part the customers are quite different.

Exactly. I'm interested only by the Genos, not Montage. Maybe there are users which uses both an arranger and a synth, but I don't think they are a lot of them.

If I was enough rich (and so I had enough free time), I would buy a Montage M, a Genos 2, a beautiful piano, and a nord stage 4 ...

I'm very interested to know what are the Montage M improvements. And I will read related Montage M informations.
For example, I'm very interested by the "big button" that allows to transform progressively a sound to another one.
OK, that is not useful when you want to play trumpet, piano and jazz. But it's interesting when you also want to play electronic music on the Genos. And I hope there are Genos users who use Genos to play electronic music too.

So what I meant is "The marketing messages would be fuzzy for these people, if Yamaha mixes releases".

Indeed, perhaps there are less people than I think that share my opinion....

Hi Maarten --

I'm curious, too.  :)  I played the P-515 (again) on Saturday and still like it. The store had just received a new shipment of 515s, so there is still old inventory to clear. The salesperson didn't have anything to say about P-525 and I floated my "evidence". I scrape the Web every day...

I thought about buying a white P-5x5 and putting it on a black stand, creating a negative space below the white keyboard. Can't decide if I want a white pedal unit, trying to create the illusion of the pedal unit supporting the white keyboard. Maybe paint the stand red? I'm sure my spouse will have something to say about that...  :D
