Hello everyone, here is a demo of the Steinway D instrument pack for the Pianoteq 8 iOS App https://youtu.be/tzOfpjiRHMU (Original Performance by Peter Baartmans). I think it would be a great addition for all the Genos/PSR/CVP users that need a realistic piano sound. I have a CVP 809 and I love the piano sound of it, but this Pianoteq is something different and it's very beautiful too.

I wonder how it compares to the iOS Pure Piano or the Ravenscroft apps. Those two apps get high reviews.

After downloading the app it lists Steinway D as $49. The app has a demo mode which I suppose is good for testing latency before buying.

I can share you more demos of Pianoteq 8 for iOS if you want. I could even show you how it sounds together with the styles of the Genos.

I have the demo app loaded. Will try on SX900 later today.

Rodrigo,
The Pianoteq8 app (demo only) is silent when I play the SX900. I hooked up my iPad Pro correctly into the USB terminal port on the SX900. The app is recognizing my key presses but no sound from the app. I'm using external speakers directly from SX900. Can you advise if there are settings to get this to work? On my old MODX iOS instrument apps worked immediately after USB connection.

I think the SX900 doesn't have a built audio interface, so the sound will come from the iPad speakers unless you connect a speaker or headphone to the iPad.

Interesting. I'm not really set up right now to take advantage of this. Does Genos have a built in audio interface?

According to the manual, The USB interface does not directly handle audio signals. So it doesn't have. The CVP has a built audio interface, an also the montage

Hi Rich,

Neither SX900/SX700 nor Genos have a built-in USB audio interface. (The newer SX600 has one. ;) )

With the Genos, you can feed in a digital Audio signal (e.g. from an iPad or Mac) via Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) as an AUX IN signal. This is also possible with SX900/SX700, but the optional USB Wireless LAN adapter UD-WL01 must be used there. BUT NOTE: This digital Audio connection via Wi-Fi has a relatively high latency, so unfortunately it is only suitable for playing audio songs, but not for playing in real time with an app like Pianoteq 8.

I see two options for you: Either you connect the headphone output of the iPad to the AUX IN jack of the SX900 using an audio cable, or if the latency of the iPad headphone output is too high to play the app in real time, you use a suitable external Audio interface connected to the iPad (via Lightning or USB cable) and connect the analog Audio output of the interface to the SX900's AUX IN jack.

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

Thanks Chris. I didn't know this. I think I have the proper adaptors to try the AUX IN method. An iPad piano is just icing on the cake, if it works, great, if not I am happy with the preset SX piano sound for my purposes.
