Hi everyone,
Just thought I'd re-surface to tell you all that after my previous posts re the SX900 and a question of pedals I decided to bite the bullet and bought the SX900.
The store in question----where I bought my PSR S975 was brilliant ( despite my earlier comments that the yamaha rep guy gave me a bit of a hard sell).
I got a good deal, I think, and I absolutely love it.  The sound is definitely better, as several of you said, and I am plodding my way through it carefully. I like the "feel" of it when I play---think its the different keybed and the absence of the touch button makes me play it firmer to get the difference in volume better.
Nowhere near mastered it all yet but enjoying the journey. I got a bit stuck with the search feature and the playlist but the shop is super with their customer service and a telephone call to one of the lads had it sorted out over the phone.
I did go the the store with the intention of buying the FC7 pedal but the guy told me exactly what Bogdan had said in my post that it would be very little benefit to me as it worked best with organs for the volume aspect which was what I had wanted it for.  He explained in a lot of detail and so I purchased an ordinary foot controller (at far less cost) which worked brilliantly alongside my other pedal.   I'm not sure exactly what happened but 2 days later I went back and bought the new keyboard!!!
I think it was possibly husband saying " Irene--- I know you're going to buy it--- and you know you're going to buy it ---so just cut out all the researching and the nattering and the catalogues and just go out and get it!!!

So I did !!!!

Good decision!!!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all

The Touch 'button' is still there - just hidden away in a menu. I'd offer my usual advice to start with Soft 2 (or Easy 2 if it has it) unless you're coming from piano.
It's not what you play, it's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

I used my SX900 and a Bose compact to play a three hour Christmas program for a large dinner offering at my church. I have seven keyboards, but chose the Yamaha for its wonderful sound and styles. It was a huge success.

Thanks everyone for your posts and comments.
My husband thinks the SX900 is a wonderful keyboard------he told our kids it was well worth the money as I disappear into the other room and he doesn't see me again until teatime!!!!

Definitely a keeper Toril  ;D ;D ;D
