Is it also possible to generate chords from a midi file with a program and get them into the score (only Text )so that I can see them in my display of SX900 or Genos.

I now have a lot of midi files that show the notes (score) but not the chords as text.

Almost all midi files have chord events. You just need to tell the keyboard you want them displayed.

In the Song Player, tap on Score, then the bar symbol. Then check the Chord box.

If plan A doesn't work, don't forget that the alphabet has 25 more letters.

When I check the chord box, I see C or F or G or Am. I don't see "liker hand notes", whatever they are. If you mean left hand notes, you can get rid of those by unchecking the Left box.

Hello Fred,

I also have the same issue. Unable to see the chord names(of midi song files) displayed on the Tyros 5 in the "score" screen. I use Sibelius 6 to make the lead sheets and then export the midi files to the Tyros. I do have "chord on" selected.

Please help if you can,

Hi
You can put the chords into the midi files with  PSRUTI as noted above so that they will  be seen when you check chord.

Hi bassgolf,

no, PSRUTI runs only on PC (Windows). But you could use a virtual Windows under e.g. Parallels or VirtuaBox on the Mac.

Best regards,
Chris

Hi Chris,

I'm not sure what you mean by a virtual Windows....

Sounds complicated.

Virtual Windows is software that lets you run Windows supported applications on non-Windows operating systems - like on a Mac. You might already have it.

Is there no program for MacOS that will generate chords from a midi file for use on at Tyros 5?

I don't have enough memory to use a Virtual Windows app.

I tried using Bootcamp and having an external drive but that option is not available on my older OS which is 10.13.6.

Any ideas?
