DO NOT BUY! Display is defective. Yamaha refuses to acknowledge, saying it is normal. Even if they agree to fix it on warranty, the new displays are defective also.  The problem usually takes a few months to show up.
I am stuck with one now. My display is worse than the ones in the video..sometimes it is unreadable.

Worse still, they are continuing to sell these, as is!!

Jeremy See provided an update that Yamaha apparently fixed the issue, but personally I avoid the E series anyway.

Thanks MixerMaster..I did not see that! Will write here, how it all works out.

SciNote

I had heard about this display issue, as well.  And I also heard the theory that the issue was not in the actual display, but instead in a circuit that feeds the power to the display -- which would be why replacing only the display did not solve the issue.  But I also read that if a particular model has the defect, then it is there right out of the box, and not something that happens down the road -- but that could have been wrong.

I hope Yamaha really did take care of this, because otherwise, the E473 is a pretty impressive keyboard for the price.
