Hi everyone. I am sequencing a song and using a Tyros 2. I have cakewalk by band lab to also assist in this. I want to insert a DSP change in the middle of a song. The Tyros 2 has 5 DSP blocks (DSP 6 is reserved for microphone). The way I have created changes in the past is to create registrations of the changes I like, then record the parts live on the Tyros sequencer.
is there a way to do this by hand as it were? I have no knowledge of the sy*** code (it looks iike a jumble of letters to me), Is there an easy way/graphical way to do this on PC? I have heard about XG works. Would XG works give full access to all the DSP blocks on Tyros?

I hope this makes sense!

I also was looking if I could insert changes after the fact using mixing console on the keyboard itself, but couldn't find a way to insert a change in the middle of a song. if there is a way for this I would be interested.

Regards Matthew

Hi,

QuoteWould XG works give full access to all the DSP blocks on Tyros?
XGworks precedes the Tyros series by several years, and has no instrument definitions or XGeditor profiles for these instruments. The Tyros 2 is XG compatible, however, so there's a possibility that at least some of the DSPs will respond to native XG effect parameter messages, which are easy to insert in XGworks.

The Tyros 2 outputs MIDI data when you make most types of changes on the instrument. Have you tried to record this in Cakewalk?

Make sure that System Exclusive events are enabled for recording in the Edit > Preferences > MIDI - Playback and Recording setup.

Thank you so much - H -

This is a brilliant way and just tried it recording in cakewalk and pressing the appropriate buttons on toys r us has sent the correct midi messages. I could change the DSP to another one in the middle of a song. You are a life saver. Thanks again

I'm glad it did the trick! :D

If you record the parameter changes onto a separate track, the data can be easily inspected using the Event List. There, you can fine-tune the parameter values, adjust their timing, weed out unneeded data, or even export/save the necessary snippets for later use.

Here is the final track with the different DSP changes:

I used the event view as you described and could change all sorts of parameters. It really has opened of a whole new world and to create unique sounds and sequences from my Tyros.
