Hi Denn,

please try these options:

1. Press [Direct Access] > [Modulation Hold] button to open the "Keyboard/Joystick > Keyboard" display. Here remove the "Initial Touch" checkmark(s) for the desired keyboard part(s).

If necessary, you can also adjust the value for "Fixed Velocity" here. (This determines the fixed volume level when the Touch Response is set to off. The volume of the keyboard parts without checkmarks stays fixed regardless of your playing strength.)

   OR

2. You can also open this display via [MENU] > [Keyboard/Joystick] > [Keyboard].

   OR

3. Use an Assignable button:

Press [Direct Access] and then press one of the Assignable buttons (A - F). Assign the function "Initial Touch On/Off" (Voice category) to this button and press [Exit]. (See also the chapter "10 Controller Function Settings" in the SX900/700 Reference Manual, from page 111.)

It is best to memorize this assignment to at least one Registration, e.g. to a "Setup Registration" that you always load after powering on the instrument. (If you don't want to change the "Assignable Buttons" assignment via your normal Registrations, make sure that the "Assignable Buttons" box is NOT checked when memorizing other Registrations.)

P.S.
You could also try to set the "Touch Curve" to "Soft 2" (in the mentioned "Keyboard/Joystick > Keyboard" display). This produces high volume even with light playing strength. Best for players with a light touch. :)

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris

Thanks a million Chris. When I had my SX900 I managed to do most of the settings. The reason I sold it (SX900) was because I did not understand to get the registrations up I could press the two buttons on the panel. Also, using the BBW (Big Black Wheel). I used a rubber pointer to get at the registrations.
I usually play with the touch OFF as it is my method of playing. Touch has no effect with the organ voices but with some of the other voices they either blah out at me or I can''t hear them. I do sometimes use the touch together with the mono for effects. Thanks for your help.  :)

Your're welcome, Denn!

I'm glad that my tips helped you. :)

Yes, different musicians have different ways of using their instrument. For example, I almost always play WITH Initial Touch. If a voice is "too quiet" even though I've turned it up almost all the way in the Mixer, there is still a volume reserve in "Voice Edit" (Genos) or "Voice Set" (Tyros5) for almost all voices that I can use. There you can also use the "Touch Sensitivity" parameters ("Depth" and "Offset") to fine-tune how a voice responds to your playing strength.

Best regards,
Chris
