Friends,
I have seen this picture on facebook. Is this real or fake ?

The obvious giveaway that its fake is the 61 keys. Genos is now 76 keys and l don't see Yamaha changing that.

My guess is that it's real.  I analyzed it a bit in an image editor, and if someone faked that photo, they did an awfully good job of it.

Yamaha's mainstream synths, including the Montage, are available in various sizes, but then again the Montage is probably seeing far higher sales than the Genos and so benefits more from economy of scale (lower price point and more options).

Wishful thinking?
If we look back at the time before PA4X and Genos were launched in any stores, there was a lot of advertising and attention from both Korg and Yamaha about the products.
Do anyone really think that new models would be ready, (produced and packaged), and not least, in place in one or more stores without any huge marketing?
This is fake news, wheter we like it or not .....   :D ;D

Obviously fake, both of them. You can see it, even without using an image analyser, by looking at the difference in skewing between "Genos" and "2-61". Same for "Pa" and "5".
Not even good fakes, but quite sloppy.

I use some specialized services who inspect images and analyze them in order to evaluate if is real of fake.
The main problem with this image is that it already a photo-collage so it is "manipulated"
Also this image come from FB and it is not the original so process from FB also applied (compress, meta data strip et.)
On the other hand on of the basic and most important "image forensic" analysis called ELA (Error Level Analysis) doesn't give signal of a manipulate image.
My opinion is that although "Genos 2-61" looks smoother and more "real", Pa5x gives the impression that is manipulated.

It is a fake, if you look carefully and the numbering on both boxes you will see a slightly whitest colour around the numerals.  So obviously not directly printed on the cardboard, but a photoshop job.

Good try though.

In my opinion, the picture must be fake, because the shipping weight (21 kg) stated on the box of this "Genos 2-61" corresponds to that of the current Genos box. However, a 61-key version should definitely weigh less than our current 73-key version. I've attached a picture of the current Genos box.

Chris

● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

It's fake. Look this https://m.facebook.com/MusicStorePoznan/posts/1693856147328253/?_rdr

Yes Fake.
I can't see Genos being made as a 61 note keyboard anyway.

Well, nice try. There is a proverb in Estonian that "where there is smoke, there is fire". It is probably fake here, but who knows, time will pass and competition will be extremely important to us, the consumers.
As the  owner of a fresh Genos, I'll probably look towards the Genos 3, as long as it's at least 76 keys.

If someone did have a Genos 2 then I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be just a photo of the box they would post.

Still got my old box and I'm with Chris.  :)

Korg Forums are waiting for the next coming of PA5x, too.

They are both unicorns.

But above all because a genos 2 instead of a first generation 61-key genos, which would be more plausible even if unlikely ... and which could fill the temporal gap between the genos and its successor.
almost sure it's a fake new .. , but the idea of a mini Genos if I were Yamaha I would take it seriously .. I Thinks that many would trade in what they have, maybe even the owners of Genos? ((would a portable but weakened Genos be desirable?).

Ps : Remember the release of the PSR S975 a year before the sx900 ...? Operation without any sense other than to dispose of the bodies already produced of the S970 and to anger those who bought the S975, a year later the purchase

The Facebook thread is four years old.

I think we would have heard of this fraud quite a while ago.

it's a complete fantasy trip
