Save midi files with other voices

If I open a midi file with my keyboard, I have default voices for each channel. If I change some voices and save the midi file, the midi file will play with the default voices and not with the voices I changed, because when I save the midi file, a message appears on the screen, saying that the midi files has been "optimized". I want to use the voices I have specified earlier.

Roger kindly wrote that you have an SX700.


On the PSR-SX700/900 and Genos, saving changes to MIDI files is done in the "MIDI Multi Recording" display:

1. Press [Recording] > MIDI [Multi Recording] and make sure the desired MIDI file is loaded.

2. Press the [Mixer/EQ] button and make the desired settings in the Mixer ("Song" tab).

3. Close the Mixer display using the [X] icon or the [Exit] button to return to the "MIDI Multi Recording" display.

4. Make sure the Song Position is "001.1". If not, touch the stop symbol (■) to go to position "001.1".

5. Touch the "Setup" icon.

6. Make sure that the top 7 boxes are ticked ("Voice" to "Tempo"). The other 5 boxes ("Keyboard Voice" to "Guide Setting") should NOT be ticked normally.

7. Touch [Execute] to write the current settings to the first measure of the MIDI file. Then touch [Close].

8. Touch the [Save] icon to carry out the Save operation.

9. Done!


P.S.
If you have already loaded the MIDI file "normally" for playback in the Song Player and then changed certain settings in the Mixer, you should be able to call up the "MIDI Multi Recording" display afterwards. The name of the previously "normally" loaded MIDI file should then be displayed there, and you can continue with point 4 in the list above. However, if "New Song" is automatically displayed instead of the previously loaded MIDI file name, you must follow the path described above (i.e. load the MIDI file in "MIDI Multi Recording" first).

I'm glad that my explanations helped you!

I would be interested to know if the method I wrote in the "P.S." worked on the SX700 (i.e. first load the MIDI file normally in the song player, then edit it in the mixer and THEN open the MIDI Multi Recording display to save the file again). On the Genos, this has only worked since an earlier firmware update...
