Hi All,

I wonder how can I move Yamaha Expansion Manager (ver 2.8.1) with all my packs and current settings to another computer?

Which data directory should I copy and whether is there an export/import function?

Cheers,

Voldi

Hi Voldy,
Yes, you can do this in windows by copying the yamaha folder which is located inside the %localappdata% folder.
Close the application if it is open and follow these steps:

1. On the source computer, press win+r to open run and type %localappdata% and hit enter.
2. Copy the yamaha folder to another location of your choice, for example on a USB flash drive or external hard drive.
3. On the destination computer, repeat step 1 and paste the folder copied from the source computer.
I recommend deleting the yamaha folder that is already there before pasting the one you copied from the other computer.
Open the software and check if it worked. Then come back here to let us know.

In this case the pack has already been imported previously. When you import again, this message appears. At least that's how it is with me.
You need to remove the pack from the list of imported packs within YEM to re-import it.

Could you take a screen shot, packs do not normally show up as numbers.

Sorry i havent been clear when i try to install superior pack  says cant install as pack already exists.
So went to user location packs  ` but the packs come as a series of numbers, how do you identify the sub menu of superior pack as i guess once you remove this it will install

Hi Whitecolin11,

If a Pack cannot be imported into the YEM and a message appears that this Pack "has already been imported", this is probably due to a corrupt ".index" or ".serial" file in the YEM user folder.

In this case, I recommend deleting the "Packs" folder in the YEM user folder. After restarting the YEM it should work again, but of course ALL packs have to be re-imported into the YEM.

Method:

- Close the YEM.

- Press "Windows" key + R to bring up the "Run" window.

- Enter the following character string and then press the "Enter" key:
%LocalAppData%\Yamaha

- This opens the following folder path:
C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Local\Yamaha\

- Open the folder "Expansion Manager" there (by double-clicking) and delete the subfolder "Packs" there. (Instead of deleting, you can just rename the folder, e.g. to "Packs OLD".)

- Restart the YEM.

If it still doesn't work, delete the entire folder "Expansion Manager" in the above path. Then of course you have to create the "Install Target" again.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris
