Hi
Can yomeone help me please how to play B/Db in AI fingered mode ? I already try to play full chord or the two Base key (B and Db) but insteed of B/Db i get Db/B.
What is the rule to play chord wich another Bass note in Yamaha Genos ? For some songs i got the true chord, but this time i cannot play it really.
Kind regards
Marco

Hi Marco,
you better ask the one who put that chord in the sheet music that you are reading, how many hands do you need to play a chord on a keyboard.

If more than one hands are required, just don't listen to him and play another chord by watching the notes of the right hand at that point and which chords are the previous and the next one.

Ι assume he has just made a mistake by wanting someone to play a chord like B/Db with one hand.

Just tried it.

Easiest way is simply C# D# B. (C# is possibly more 'correct' than Db when there's a B major chord present). The display will show B*/C# and the chord produced, while not exactly correct, will certainly be near enough. I can't imagine that a discord like that would last that long!

There is probably another way of getting it, but this is quick and it saves faffing around with trickier chord shapes.

That is assuming that it's not some typo and the required chord is actually the much more common Bb/Db. That's played exactly as written - Bb over (above) Db, or Db Bb if you want to write it from left to right.
It's not what you play, it's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

It seems more like a mistake because there are hardly any circumstances I can th8nk of where a real musician would write a chord this way.

That's just a root over 2nd (9th). Same as playing C /D. Typically used on 80's rock.

Easiest way is to use 2 handed chords, and literally play the B chord on the right, with the C# (Andy, yes you would use C# rather than Db with a presumptive B Maj scale, since the key signature would be C#, D#, F#, G#,A#).

On 1 hand? If you're on fingered on Bass mode, the lowest note becomes the bass, so C#, D#, F#,B

However, if you *have* to play AI Fingered (I don't recommend that in this case) you'd need to octave the C#; It'll be difficult to hold C#, D#, F#,B, C# on 1 hand

Mark, you missed my point. As you say, it's not unusual to use the 2nd as the bass especially in a rising bass run. But we would not normally expect an experienced musician writing a score to indicate a slash chord as B/Db, they would typically write it as B/C#. Just as you would not expect C/D to be written as C/Ebb.  It doesn't make any difference to the notes or how to play it, but it raises some suspicion that it could be a mistake. You would need to see or hear the context to know.

Just my thoughts -
What key is shown?
What chord(s) come before and after the B/Db (or C#)?
Is there s rising or falling bass line?
Solution - If it is a rising or falling bass line, sometimes the style you choose will already give you that!
