Hey guys and girls!

As some know , i was out of the world of music interpretation from a long period (~40 years or so), and as all the "new" things (like midi connection from my new keyboard to the computer) are really unknown territory for me... all new lands to explore..... the problem is that there are too much land to explore  ;D.

What program(s) do you suggest to use in my (Windows/Linux) PC to arrange, modify (if needed) and fix (for sure) the songs i play on my PSR-EW410 keyboard on the computer?
For what i read around the web, mmost ppl use Ableton Live, FL studio , and Cubase (and Kontakt for Virtual Instruments) , on the web, mostly ,the reccomendations goes for Ableton , or FL ... im new on all this, maybe, over the time, i try both (or others) programs, but , based on your own experience, wich one do you reccomend i learn (and use) ??

Im not a pc/soft illiterate, (im a PC repair/networking  technician after all), but each software is a different world, usually, with different workflows, and i have not too much free time to try/learn every piece of software around.
Help based on your how experience, will be much apreciated!

Thanks in advance, Alvaro

Bump!... Nobody want to share his own experience(s) guys and Girls?

I'm not sure what you are trying to do exactly.
Ableton Live does not load the styles correctly midi type 0, and split them into channels, if that's what you are looking to do. But Ableton is great for track creation and working with virtual instruments. You could setup Ableton to record and playback midi keyboard. I find it fairly easy to use compared to some of the others.

You may try out Bandlab Cakewalk (free), XGWorks, or Reaper first.
Cubase seems to do ok with the styles.

First, tell us what's wrong with just playing the keyboard. We all make mistakes, and live with them, or focus on trying to be a better player.

For arranging, you won't find much help from software. Arranging is for people.

To fix a midi file, I would use MixMaster, available in the Utilities section of this website. It's free and works well on a PC, but there's a learning curve. Regardless of which software you use, you need to be dedicated. There has to be a good reason to spend the time fixing a song. Most people prefer to spend that time playing the keyboard instead.

This forum is focused on the arranger keyboards. Questions on how to do this or that on the keyboards,   do definitely wander sometimes into computer software. And are of course a few people on the forum that make extensive use of the keyboard in conjunction with the arranger to create/ produce music, but it's not the main focus. This is why a very general computer and software question like yours would not get much response.

Sorry, i didn't want to use the software on the PC to "Fix" my playing, at least is not my idea :)
Just for
a: using more instruments and in special rythms (&making rythms) that the psr don't have (and don't have a rythm creator)
b: record different instruments with the keyboard to make a complete orchestra (arranger?)

Thats only my ideas for the future, atm, on;y tried that the link between the keyboard and PC works .. playing with the keyboard atm only :)
Thanks for the responses guys

I am not familiar with the E410, but all the psr models let you do most of these things on the keyboard.

Afaik Mike, the ew410 doesn't have a rythm creator (you cant create rythms on the keyboard, must use .sty files on a usb stick to transfer that rythms on the memory, up to 10 rythms max)
Ant with respect to multiple instruments, yes, it has the functionality, up to 6 tracks, but with very limited edition capabilities on the keyboard must further investigate that function when i use it.
I think the "arranger" capabilities on the keyboard are very limited... off couse i think is the best you can buy for that price, no doubts about that

Thanks Mike!
