Hi
Is there a way to directly link (via an audio interface?) a Tyros 5 with Audacity on a laptop? and how is it done
any names of good interfaces if needed?

Normanfernandez

I'm not sure if you know about the USB recording on the Pen Drive available on the keyboard itself.

But If a PC recording is required.
I recommend
Focusrite 2i2 ( 3rd gen ).

Yes, as Norman says, the Focusrite audio interfaces are very good. You like the Tyros to the computer by using audio cables that go from the keyboards L/R imputs, not the aux, into the interface, and the interface you connect via USB. Remenber to set Audacity to record from the audio interface, and not from the speakers of the computer! But also, as Norman says, you get the same result by recording on the Tyros. Put your recording on an USB stick, connect it to your computer and import it into Audacity. You can then edit it if you like, and even convert to MP3.

Thanks Guys   What I am trying to do is as follows:
I have reformed virtually with my old band members   They have sent me a Audacity file with their inputs namely a drum track, bass track and guitar track  They want me to send a vocal and organ track   But they want me to send it independent of the other 3 tracks so as to make better mixing   I have the vocal under control but at the moment I have only made an organ track via the USB mic and it sounds awful
What do you suggest  #?

Normanfernandez

Do you have any issues while playing the Keyboard and listening to the Audio Via Audacity ?

You can record the Organ Track On the Song Recorder ( Midi )
And play it back and record on the USB pen drive. ( Which you can still do live while recording the Song on midi )

That way you don't have to spend any cash at all.

Just take note of the timing so that you can aline it on Audacity.

On the Song Recorder ( while it's playing back )
You can solo each channel ( hold 3sec ) on the channel section.

Just play your part on midi song recording and record on the USB Pen Drive.

Hi Norman
That has been my problem
Latency
I have tried recording  on the tyros then importing  via a memory stick into Audacity to line up with the other tracks which were all performed directly into Audacity via an audio interface
Even with latency adjustment its not good Even though it sounds great
And you are right ...How to listen to the  pre performed tracks on Audacity whilst performing on the Tyros
Can you import midi into Audacity?
Question
Can I import pre performed tracks and add vocal and organ as sub tracks?? in Multitrack function?

Regards
Chris

Roger Brenizer

Yes, Chris, you can import a midi file using Audacity.

Using the File Pull-Down (Drop-Down) Menu, hover over Import and select Midi...
"Music Is My Life"
My best regards,
Roger

The keyboard's L/R outputs to the Focusrite audio interface's mic/line inputs using 1/4 inch MONO cables?

Yes, always use unbalanced cables with "TS" plugs ("MONO" jack plugs), as all Line Outputs on Yamaha arranger keyboards are unbalanced.

Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)
