Using the Style Editor to Extract a Single Measure

If I want to use a single measure (bar) of a Main Variation to use, say, as the basis for creating a break pattern, can I use the Style Editor to cut away the unwanted measures?

Using the keyboard style creator, you may only cut off from the end. So if it is the first measure you want, you can.

I have tried to figure out how to cut off from the front but have not figured out a way yet.

If you delete the first measure, the remaining parts will still play in measures 2,,3 and 4.  So, measure one is just blank. To do that just use the Style Create to reduce the measure to ONE and Save it with a new name to the user area.

I wanted to move the 4th measure up to measure 1 of an Aloha Guitar riff.  I copied it into measure 1. The notes all played but not the bending of the notes.   I had to figure out how YAMAHA was able to bend that note and play it myself and record it. I got it close enough but not perfect like YAMAHA has it created. I believe YAMAHA has more tools available to them for creating it.  :P

So, if it is not the 1st measure you want, I would still try to move it to the 1st measure and hear how it sounds.

Thanks (again). I'll get back to this one when I've had my fun out of converting YouTubes to MP3s and singing along (you again on another thread). I'm starting to feel like your apprentice.

Hi Drake,
have you tried to copy the bar you wanted with the tab of style creator called "Channel"?

Bar copy.
Top 4 (meaning your first bar to copy from is nr 4)
Last 4 (meaning the last bar to copy from is nr 4)
Dest 1 (meaning the destination bar or bars to copy to,will start from nr 1)

I don't remember though for sure if the "events" will be copied also.
By "events" I mean things like the pitch note shift of the Aloha guitar in your example.
Those are the Sy*** data events we can read on the "EDIT" tab when we select "filter" and then "All on".

If this helps:

See page 40 of the PSR-S970/S770 Reference Manual
Editing Data for Each Channel (CHANNEL)

You need to do the following. Let's say you want to copy the fourth measure of variation C to the Fill In C.

1. Select the values as in Picture 1 (so you copied the fourth measure to the first)
2. Switch to the Assembly tab.
3. You must turn on Fill in Variation C on the keyboard panel (Picture 2)
4. Everything has to be like in Picture 3, instead of InTheMood it will write the name of your rhythm.

By the same principle, you can copy every measure of a channel to any Fill in.

Thank you very much! This sounds like what I/we have been looking for. I shall have to contain my eagerness to try it out (it's 7pm after a tiring day), and come to it refreshed in the morning.

Thanks again, Alan
