Hi
I downloaded the new Revolution Algorthim pack and imported into YEM like I always do.
No problem.
Now I try to create an installation pack and it says not enough space or writer protected.
I have a 32GB stick with plenty of space and it is not protected.
All my packs have been saved before without problem.
I tried different USB stick too. Same problem ...
YEM version 2.6.0 on Windows 7
2.7.0 only works on Windows 10
Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you de-select RA files, can you save pack installation?

Just tried that. Same result.
Tried to save it to my PC. Same message.
Very strange.
I did reboot my PC. Must be something in YEM?
Thanks

I had this error with another pack. Remove all your packs in yem. Then only add the revolution pack. If this does not work you might have to reinstall yem.

I removed packs and reinstalled YEM.
Now it keeps freezing up every time I want to reinstall my packs.
Very frustrating ....

Hi Eric,

uninstall YEM, then delete the entire content folder as shown in the 04:26 video.
Then install YEM and re-enter the Packs into it.

You don't need to do that anymore. If you have YEM-CE it will cleanup YEM installation when refreshing content. Unfinished installation packs will be deleted. Seems YEM has problems when errors encountered on installation process (sometimes).

Vali

Please, check the User drive (in the middle and top of the Yem) , may be too much files (Voice file), caused this error. it's bar should be green, if Red, reduce the selected voice files.

valimaties

Look at the picture attached. The size of selected content is smaller than maximum allowed, so it is not about size!

What is YEM-CE?

YEM Content Exporer is a nice tool that cleans the YEM environment and that lets you create different environmentS in YEM: just select which one you want (or create a new empty one) in YEM-CE and then launch YEM. See link below. Vali, the author, has also create a video on how to use his tool.

Hi rezaazadi1361,

with the S970/975/770/975 it can actually happen very quickly that there is no more space in the User drive to install Expansion content (such as Styles from the Packs), because on these PSR-S models the size of the User drive is only approx. 13 MB. With the S670 it is only 2 MB. (We're talking about megabytes, not gigabytes!).

In the present case of Erik, however, the GENOS is first of all concerned. Here the size of the User drive is 58 GB (gigabytes), so it is very unlikely that this is the problem.

Best regards,
Chris

@Eric, B
Hi Eric,

did you import also one ore more of the "now free" Packs from the new Yamaha shop in to your YEM? Then this can be the reason for this error.

I had the same error on YEM V2.7.0 when I tried saving the Pack Install file (.cpi): "Cannot save the file. Make sure that the memory is not write protected and there is enough free space."

This error occurred because some of these "now free" Packs were buggy in the first version uploaded by Yamaha. In the meantime, Yamaha has uploaded new, error-free versions of these packs.

So if you have such Packs in the YEM, I recommend deleting them from the YEM first. Then you should only select the four Packs of the "Revolution Algorithm" as a test and test whether the "Pack Install" file can now be saved.

If this still doesn't work, I recommend deleting the Pack folder in the YEM user folder. You do this as follows:

• On the computer keyboard, press [Windows] key + [R] to open the "Run" window.
• Enter (or copy from here):   %LocalAppData%\Yamaha\Expansion Manager\
• Press [Enter] key. This will automatically open the YEM User folder. (The full path is "C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Yamaha\Expansion Manager\")
Rename the folder "Packs" to "Packs OLD" here.
• Restart YEM. A new, empty folder "Packs" will be created automatically.
• Import only the four Packs of "Revolution Algorithm" into the YEM and test if you can save the "Pack Install" file correctly.
• If it works now and if you used some "now free" Yamaha Packs before, I recommend to download ALL these Packs again from the Yamaha shop. But note: Do NOT use the OLD links in the "Library" of your Yamaha Account, but put all the Packs into the shopping cart again, proceed to checkout, and "buy" the free Packs again. Then, after waiting some time, use the NEW generated links in your "Library" to download the Packs.
• Alternatively, you can use the old versions of these Yamaha Packs, but import only one at a time and select only this one Pack. Then try to save the "Pack Install" file. If this fails, delete this Pack from YEM and download it again from Yamaha. Do the same for all these Yamaha Packs, but only "one by one".

That way, you don't necessarily have to download all of the Packs again. (Unfortunately there is no information about WHICH Packs were defective in the first version. Therefore, there are only two options: Either download all of these Yamaha Packs again, or, as described, find out by testing with the YEM which Packs are corrupt and then just download these Packs again.)

P.S.
Instead of renaming the folder "Packs" inside the folder "Expansion Manager", you can also rename the whole folder "Expansion Manager" (e.g. to "Expansion Manager OLD". YEM cannot "see" this folder anymore, and when the YEM is restarted, a new initialized User folder "Expansion Manager" is created. You don't necessarily have to completely delete this folder immediately and you can still access the previous files in it if necessary.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris

Thank you all for your help.
I have deleted and reinstalled  YEM
Deleted and reinstalled packs, but still get the same error message.
I deleted a couple of packs altogether from YEM including one free pack from Yamaha.
All remaining packs are bought.
I was able to create a pack for RA. Now I know it is not that.
I kept adding packs until I get the error message. Reboot PC  remove last added one, add another one ... same
I downloaded YEM-CE which worked for a while, but now I get an error message and it won't load packs
Very frustrating
Almost ready to give up  :( >:(

You should have taken my advice.  ;)
After uninstalling YEM, the contents should be completely deleted from the computer. Watch the 04:26 video I linked to in my post.

I finally figured it out  ;D ;D ;D ;)
Even though I deleted some packs, I did not delete all of them.
Here are my steps:
I loaded YEM and selected all packs for my Genos.
Most check marks are bright green except a couple of packs.
It almost looked like the were sort of greyed out even though they had a (faded) green check mark.
I opened the pack and saw that not all voices were selected. Strange I thought.
I clicked on it again and it selected all voices and I got a bright green check mark.
All is well I thought.
Trying to save packs .... Got the same error message.
Rebooted my computer, same pack was a pale green check mark with some voices not selected.
I deleted the pack and re installed it. Bingo
This time it worked  ;D ;D ;D
All is well.
Thank you all so much for taking the time and trying to help me.
I really appreciate each of you.
What a great community.
Regarding the RA pack ... Wow just wow
The styles have an amazing groove. Very tight.
Great base lines great rhythm guitars. Real Fender Strat yay
I have been playing for hours. So much fun.
Still lots to explore.
The styles work on so many songs I play ...
Again, thank you all for your help

Hi Eric,

thank you very much for the detailed description! I am happy for you that it works now!

I also had the problem that not all contents of certain Packs were selected by default. So far I haven't figured out why that is. Normally, all content should be enabled by default, unless you intentionally deselect certain contents (e.g. to save space in the Expansion Wave memory).

Best regards,
Chris

Hi Eric,

just a little addition: As I already mentioned somewhere before, I found that YEM in some cases cannot overwrite properly an existing Pack Install file (.cpi/.ppi). Therefore I recommend to always delete the previous file from the USB stick before saving a new Pack Install file.

It's a bit pricey, but on sale right now.
That's why I took the plunge.
I usually set Style Volume to 104.
With RA I have to set it to 68 to be the same Volume.

Genos!

On sale? I'm not seeing it... 250 Euros? $300 USD? £225?

"Revolution Algorthim" is a programming system... hmmm.

The sound is good, although I wouldn't be surprised if they are just leveraging off of Yamaha's technology and there is no algorithm per se (¿just good marketing?).

I do have to say though, so far the pack sounds pretty good (per the demos).

I have been watching it for a while.
It is usually 399 Euros. Now 249 Euros.
Big price drop.
Yes, it is still pricey, I agree ..
To me it is a one time purchase with amazing styles.
Just reprogrammed at least 20-30 songs and are breathing new live into them.
I am a guitar player and guitar riffs are very important to me.
The ones in the RA are awesome. Fells like I have a rteal guitar player with me ...
And as I said: the base lines are also top.
Wants me to get up and dance to my own music  ;D

Hi Genos!

Yamaha Styles can be "MIDI Styles" or "+Audio Styles".

"+Audio Styles" (.aus) are also MIDI Styles (with up to 16 internally used MIDI channels, which are routed to the known 8 Part Channels 9-16), but these Styles contain an additional Audio Drum track. No further Audio tracks (e.g. Guitars) are allowed.

"MIDI Styles" can use standard Drum Kits, or the Drums can be realized by Custom Voices that contain so called "Sliced Audio Drum Loops". To bring these sliced Loops into the YEM you can use REX files (.rx2) that can be created for example in "ReCycle".

Usually this technology can be used only for Audio DRUMS, but not for Audio GUITARS etc (that have to follow the played CHORDS).

And the latter is what has now been made possible by the special, novel "Revolution Algorithm" programming technology.

Best regards,
Chris

This is nothing new nor does it require special technology. "Audio guitars" could always be played in Style.
CASM data and the specific structure of the Yamaha rhythm is used for this purpose.
Yamaha itself has not used it so far. The first rhythms of this kind appeared in the Superior Pack. For example, Polka Trumpet on CHD2 plays guitar that way.

Man, and here I thought that some settings in my Genos were jacked up. I have the same issue; the overall volume of the style is way loud. Also, on mine, the middle (R2) instrument on the OTS settings is empty (unassigned).
