TAB Control with Sy***

Hello everybody.
In the Assignable menu you can define interesting functions for controlling the PSR-SX900 with the 6 assignable buttons and save them in the registration. I would like to control these 6 assignable buttons with an external footswitch controller software via the midi interface with (Sy***) commands. I couldn't find any corresponding tab control commands in the data list. Are there any undocumented (sy***) commands for controlling the tabs in general and specifically for the assignable tabs?

I found Sy*** commands in the data list (Section Control) with which the style can be controlled directly. So for example, "FILL IN AA" can be started using a sy*** command F0437E00107FF7. This makes it possible to control the style via the MIDI interface with the external footswitch controller software and the corresponding Sy*** command. However, most of the functions that can be assigned with the assignable buttons as sy*** commands are missing. For example switching the Vocal Harmony on and off and the assignable buttons. Are there undocumented sy*** commands for this?

I am grateful for any help.
Thomas

Hello, Thomas!

There are lots of undocumented Sy*** messages on Yamaha keyboards. Since Yamaha uses MIDI internally in a lot of files, many things are controlled with this type of messages. It is not clear whether they will be understood on the MIDI interface as well...
Some of these messages have been reverse engineered (there are more). Take a look at:
http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/articles/ots.htm, http://dromeusik.blogspot.com/p/blog-page_17.html, http://dromeusik.blogspot.com/p/tyros-undokumentierte-sy***e-harmony.html, http://dromeusik.blogspot.com/p/tyros-undokumentierte-sy***e-multi-pad.html.

With respect to controlling VH via MIDI, you can find (at least some of) the information in the PSR-SX900 Data List Manual, pages 107-109.

Regards!

It is simpel
Use a pc midi sequencer set it on record
Use the knob you want the sy*** from
stop the pc sequenser
Look in the recorded track
There you find the sy*** for that knob
When you record a midi file on the keyboard with the arranger
and you play it on the pc you see the knobs lite on on your keyboard
like start and stop

Thank you for the answers. It's a chicken egg problem. I don't have a PSR-SX900 at the moment and would like to know before buying whether the assignable tabs can be remotely controlled from a PC via the midi interface. I'm looking for an owner of a PSR-SX900 who could try this on his device and give me the assurance that it will work and give me the commands.
Thank you.
