Hello friends.
I have an old win 7 PC. There I have YEM 260. The only pack I have in it is the Genos V2 Superior pack, that also is free.
Now there is a new version of YEM, and Win 7 is no longer supported! So I will have to bite the bullet and start to use my Win 10 PC. So my question is this: Can I install YEM 70 on my Win 10 PC, import my instrument files for my Genos and S975 and start from scratch, or do I have to do something, import something from my old YEM? I don't want to lose the Genos Superior pack. Other packs are not installed yet. So I better do this before I load in other packs.

Hi Toril,

you can just start from scratch with the new YEM version 2.7.0 on the Win 10 PC.

If you don't have exported the Instrument Info files (.n27) from your instruments since installing the latest firmware, I recommend to do this now, and import the .n27 files into the new YEM version as Install Targets.

Then import the Genos Superior Pack into the new YEM (using the .cpf file). Now you can import the free Yamaha Packs or other Packs (e.g. from CMS).

In "My Packs" the Packs are always displayed in alphabetical order. But the order in which the Packs are displayed on the Instrument depends on the LSB assignment.

When importing a Pack, it always gets the lowest free LSB. To assign a different LSB to a Pack (and thus change the order of the Packs on the Instrument), first click on the Pack at "My Packs" and then click on "> Change Bank Select LSB". In this window you can drag the current pack to another (free) LSB with the mouse. Then you have to close the LSB window and confirm the query to save. Then you can click on another Pack and open the LSB window again to change the LSB, if desired.

Note: If you PURCHASED Packs from Yamaha MusicSoft in the past: These Packs are usually protected (.cpf format) AND also linked to your MusicSoft account. That means, when importing such a purchased Pack, the YEM will ask for the login data (email address used at Yamaha MusicSoft and the associated password).

If you want to avoid re-entering this data or if an error occurs (so that a purchased Pack cannot be imported), you can simply copy the "Account.ini" file from the Win7 YEM to the new Win10 YEM. If you would like further information on this, just post here again.

Best regards,
Chris
