Hi All

I love my Genos and the voices are fantastic, I downloaded some of the free expansion packs from Yamaha Musicsoft and some of those are really good too!

my questions are as follows;

1) I always liked the Korg M1 Piano and would like it can anyone tell me if the site below is good?

http://soundandstyles.grandblogs.com/m1.php

2) I had a voice on one of my keyboards called Rubber Bass (I think that's what it was called) does anyone know where I would get my hands on this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Nigel

Hi Nigel,

on the German website http://cms-sounddesign.de/index_en.html you can find many good Expansion Voices for free (mostly in .ppf format).

Here you can download the legendary KORG M1 Piano:
>>> http://cms-sounddesign.de/page102_en.html

And here are other free KORG M1 sounds (use the .ppf format):
>>> http://cms-sounddesign.de/page133_en.html

Hope this helps!

P.S.
You don't need to import all these .ppf files as separate Packs into YEM: Just create a new, empty Pack first. Then you can import several .ppf files into this Pack (using "Import Content" feature).

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

Hi Chris

Thanks for that!

I remember having a "Rubber Bass" in my Roland G-1000.  It is an arranger workstation but its sounds surely were taken from some flagship synth.  Maybe you can find it under some Roland synth in the page (#133) that Chris pointed out.  Despite having a "Korg M1" headline it shows several Roland models.

Good luck -- José

Hi Nigel,

There is a voice called 'Rubber Bass' already on Genos,  but it is hidden away in the 'Bass' category of  the 'GM&XG' folder which can't be directly accessed from the panel, except in MIDI Song mode  (thanks Yamaha!).

However if you check out the post at this link:

https://www.psrtutorial.com/forum/index.php/topic,44058.msg347642.html#msg347642

Stijn tells you how you can defeat Yamaha's petty restrictions and regain access to these voices, allowing you to use them in keyboard parts.

Unfortunately the link to download the voices in his post is no longer active,  but if you scroll down the thread to Eileen L's reply (#2), the attachment in her reply can still be downloaded.   The attachment contains the voice data files (.vce) and is not very big.  If you unzip the download to a USB stick and connect it to the keyboard, you can check out the voices directly from there and if you prefer, install any voices of interest in your USER drive later.  You don't need to use any expansion memory or YEM for this.

Regards

Ian

Hi Ian

Thanks so much for this, I found a voice in my PSR1100 called "Touch Bass" which sounds similar. Tonight I will give the suggestion in your post a go.

Again many thanks for taking the time to help me with this.

This proves yet again what a great forum this is.

Hi Everyone

A massive thanks to everyone for helping me with this, Everything that was suggested worked! I am now the happy owner of a Genos including the Korg M1 Piano voice, I downloaded Eileen's zip files and have now put on the Rubber bass voice and a few others actually (Insomnia and the XG Grand Piano sound).

Thanks to all for you help!!!
