Hi,

Could someone explain hot to make sound continuous (like organs, strings etc.) with Yamaha Expansion Manager? The length of wave is 9 seconds.

Thanks in advance

Normanfernandez

You need to make a loop point with the samples.

Richard van Straten made a very useful manual for YEM version 2.3.2
(manual version 1.2.1) in 62 pages.
This manual is in Dutch.
If you can't find it somewhere you may send me an e-mail
so I send you this manual in appendix (pdf).

Free traduction of the answer to your question,
from the manual from Richard van Straten :
"....we need specific software called "Loop Editor" to let
the sound continue,.....most of the audio-editors (DAW) can
make a loop, but that is not the loop we need because it makes
no samples with a loop.
A "Loop Editor" makes in the sample (WAV) two indexpoints
that can be read by the Tyros/Genos to define the start and end point
to continue the sound as long as the keys are pressed,....."

Thank you, I'll try to find this manual.
So us I understood, the audio-editor "Cool Edit Pro" which I work with is not suitable to make such loop? True?

vanzee

You can do a test.
Make a loop in your editorprogr., save it as "WAV", then playback on Tyros/Genos,
if the playback is with loop then you can use your prog., if not you will have to search for
a specific loop creator/editor.
You'll find it easily on the internet under the name "Loop Editor" or "Loop Creator".

Thank you Mr Eddy! It seems Cool Edit Pro is not suitable for the loops and I should find another program.

tyrosaurus

I have used Wavosaur in the past to add loop markers to samples, which have then looped correctly when made into a voice on my Tyros4.

https://www.wavosaur.com/

I haven't tried to make voices in YEM using these 'loops', but I suspect that they will work.

Note that Yamaha software only supports a single loop in a sample, so don't waste time making more than one loop per sample.

Also, if you are using a looped sample in a drum voice, make sure that 'Receive Key Off' (in 'General' parameters) is enabled, or the sample will never stop once triggered!

The loops created with Wavosaur works excellent in YEM. Only need to use crossfade (100% or 50%) to avoid "click" on continuous playing.
