Hello everyone
I am planning to upgrade my psr e343 to a brand new arranger soon..But I am in a confusion between Psr sx700 and 900..I am a hobbyist/self entertainer and don't intend to perform much...I am not a singer songwriter so the chord looper and VH is not important to me..What about others...Which is a better value proposition...

Please help me ...

The SX700 is a great pro arranger keyboard.
Go for it !

Good luck, 🐸

What is what you can't know for your personal decision ?  The SX900 is better for you by 23 percentage points almost at double price.

Hi Andorra :

You are the only decision maker which model you are going to buy.

Some people prefer to buy a second hand Yamaha arranger keyboard, why not.

All depends on one's personal needs and budget.  ::)

Yamaha are the arranger keyboard market leaders and are producing very good, very reliable products. :)
IMHO Yamaha are the best ... but who am I ?  ;)

Good luck with your choice, Babette

Hi,

From my own previous experience and what you describe as your needs I would say the SX700 would be the best choice for your needs

Hi,

The PSR SX700 is a huge upgrade from your PSR E343. Go for it and you'll be delighted.

That said, I played a PSR E343 during a month, it has a great keybed and it is feather-light, I suggest you keep it as a second keyboard for vacations etc.

Regards,

Vinciane
Past keyboards: PSR E313, PSR E413, PSR E433, PSR S550, DGX 640, upright piano.
Now: DGX 650, Casio CT-X800.

Hi,

The biggest difference for me between the SX700 and SX900 is that SX900 has all the new Revo sampled Pop, Rock, Jazz brush kits, the new EDMKit, TrapKit, 80sPopKit, 80sR&BKit and SchlagerKit kit along with other perc instruments and also several brand new MegaVoices for eg, the twin-guitar strumming sound from Genos in styles (missing from SX700 and all previous S series models).

Bonus: In my opinion, the new drum kits make SX900's styles sound better than the Tyros.

Along with several other stuff like Chord looper, missing aluminum brushed finish, missing additional subwoofer (10W X2), etc. these are the main stuff I see missing on the SX700. It makes a huge difference in overall sound quality. The reason why I spent an extra to get SX900, worth it if you're really into it/or have a taste. I thought you might want to know this since the stuff I mentioned above (missing new drum kits and MegaVoices) isn't mentioned anywhere.

But either way, both SX700 and SX900 is a massive upgrade from E343. I upgraded to SX900 from my older E413.

Regards.

What are you thinking about in your mind when you ask this question. Is it ..

I want reassurance that the SX700 is a great choice, and I won't be missing too much

or

I want justification for the SX900 that I really want in my heart

Because either is true. If you are strongly attracted to either, it's a good choice for you. If you are genuinely uncertain, and can afford it, go SX900 because you may always wonder if you'd made a mistake.

But it really is your choice!

I believe Andorra prefers the SX900 at the SX700 price. ;) ;) ;)

Hi, aanandkollam,

I recommend to download the SX900/700 Manuals (Owner's Manual, Reference Manual, Data List):

>>> https://uk.yamaha.com/en/support/manuals/index.html?l=en&c=keyboards&k=psr-sx700

In "Owner's Manual" go to the "Specifications" (pages 118/119) and compare all data (every single line) between SX900 and SX700.

As you can see, the SX900 is much better than the SX700 in many details. Look at e.g. the information regarding Voices (Drum Kits, SuperArticulation Voices, Mega Voices) or Effects (the SX700 only has 5 insert effect blocks, the SX900 has 8 ).

All in all: The SX700 is also a very good keyboard, but if the personal budget is sufficient, I definitely recommend buying the SX900.

Best regards,
Chris

● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

How did you draw this obvious conclusion only you know Babette.
You're mistaken.
I prefer the Genos XXL at the SX700 price. ;)

Many times I have been in a position when there has been a choice of little and big brother models in a line at the same time.

ie in the past s775 and 975 . Sharing much the same look, yet differing in specs.  On the occasion I bought the lower spec. models, Without fail, I have regretted my decision later...
If you can afford the 900 ...then I would go for it...
Not taking anything from the 700 it is a wonderful instrument, but you will be always wondering why you did not buy the 900 ...and what you are missing.... if you shop clever there is not a huge difference in price. ... I am sure they are not 'double'

I have also found the re-sale values to be better personally on boards with better spec, IMHO the 700 wont hold as well as the 900 ...but then this is only my view on it..
